There will be an official declaration soon by the Parliament of Kosovo proclaiming Independence form Serbia. The Serbian government maintains that under the UN charter, no territory can be ceded without agreement by the parties. The EU and the Americans seem to be making stuff up about what the resolution really meant authority in Kosovo was transfered by Serbia and Montenegro to the UN. If the UN has authority over Kosovo, how then can the EU take over without the permission of the UN? The Russians maintain that what the EU is proposing is illegal on its face. Will there be another war, and with a resurgent and assertive Russia, will things get out of hand? What are The implications of a new war amongst major powers in continental Europe for The Bahamas, with specific reference to the security of our food and energy supplies, amongst other goods, and our tourism industry? Discuss.
