I am a college student doing a report on Disney's castaway cay. I am specifically interested about native labor on the island. Any info about Bahamian labor policies would be great. thanks

I would get an email contact or telephone contact for the Public Relations Representative for castaway Cay and then engage in correspondance. Or if I'm lazy, I'd go to:
http://www.hiddenmickeys.org/Contacts.html

For Disney Travel information, call (407) 828-3255.
Disney Cruise Line information and reservations, call (407) 556-7000 or (800) 951-3532.
Obtain James A. Rasulo's (President of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts) email address. OR For Walt Disney World Media Relations, contact Michelle Baumann at (407) 397-6397
And for good measure glean these pages for all the pertainent links.

Local labor on Gorda Cay???? There are 2 hair braiders that have to find their own way to the island. When the ship comes in, the crew comes off the ship and they do the work, not local Bahamians.

yeah, i dont think there are many bahamians working on castaway cay. you see the cruise industry likes to hire people from hard ship countries, countries where the people are afraid to go back so they work their tale off so they dont have to go back. as for bahamian labour laws. THEY SUCK. but i now relise compared to whose standards? compared to US standards they arent that great but compared to places like indonesia, sri lanka, cambodia etc. bahamian labour laws are fantastic.

maybe you should switch your report to the basic slave labour on those cruise ships and how countries like the bahamas and panama allows those practices.
