I can't get in to see my Dad but I am told he is to be transfered to male medical as soon as a bed is available. foxhillgal 02-18-08, - 07:11 PM I can't get in to see my Dad but I am told he is to be transfered to male medical as soon as a bed is available. Must be stressful Vicky, stay strong. jimbunting 02-20-08, - 04:21 PM It strikes me as odd.....................To close the trauma room, when the proper action is to MASK the patient that has the tuberculous, and MOVE that person to an isolation room. Then dis-infect all the surfaces that the infected person has come in contact with, while in the hospital. TB is spread by contact with the sputum or cough droplets of the infected person. Mask and gown protocol is the standard practice when dealing with an active and infective TB patient. Can any one tell me if the trauma room at PMH is still closed, today ? Jim B. Toronto. The TB outbreak is old news. People were being quarantined months ago. Not sure if this is the same outbreak, or a new one. canewry 02-21-08, - 02:00 AM It strikes me as odd.....................To close the trauma room, when the proper action is to MASK the patient that has the tuberculous, and MOVE that person to an isolation room. It was open the next day and my had had been moved to the chest pain unit nextdoor. jimbunting 02-29-08, - 09:55 AM An " isolation room " can be any hospital room that is closed off, to the public , and has only one patient in it, who is wearing a mask. The staff must observe strict mask and glove and gown protocol. When entering they must don a clean gown, gloves and face mask, which are disposed of when they leave the patient's room. Daily surface cleaning should also be in done. Any visitors must also observe this practice of masks, gloves and gowns. Jim B Toronto.
