View Full Version : I am tired of Poor Service!!
bahamiangoddess 02-25-08, - 07:57 PM I am so tired of the poor service that businesses gives Bahamians. I ordered some food from a popular restaurant last night and went to pick up my food.
About four of the employees were standing behind the bar and not a single one of them even look up at me. It was obvious I had come to pick up food as I was standing directly beneath a sign that said "PICK UP" and I had money in my hand.
I stood there for more than seven minutes while everyone went in the kitchen. A lady who must have been a manger or a owner was getting a drink for herself. I assume she was either a manager or owner as she did not wear the uniform. She helped herself, looked at me, and went in the back.
I could see the food orders sitting on the counter at the back, yet no one offered to help.
I left and went outside to my car, as I got in the car and thought about how far I had driven, the devil got up in me and I went back. This time two of them were there and one ask me what I wanted. I gave her the order number and my money.
When she gave me the change, I told her, you know what??? for the bad service I change my mind. I want my money back!!
She gave me my money and I went to K.F.C. plus I saved $5.00 and got a drink with my meal!
Lately, it seems like everywhere you go there is bad service, even on the telephone.
I am boycotting the businesses who gave poor service. except Dominoes Pizza, I have no other choice The last time I ordered a pizza it never reach.
trubahamian 02-25-08, - 08:10 PM You did the right thing! You might tink these idiots are practicing to become Gubment employees!
wide eye 02-25-08, - 08:15 PM Same old, Same old! ATTITUDE! The Bahamas needs a new one!
wide eye 02-25-08, - 08:41 PM And to think that the SERVICE industry is our #1 industry, it's as if we don't even know what service REALLY means.
FACTS ONLY 02-25-08, - 08:50 PM This problem stems from the home. Parents hardly teach by example to their children how to behave nor how to serve. Boy/girl go get me some water!! Chile go iron my uniform!! Go take up some food fa ma!! Get your azz up!!
Thats all some children hear. NEVER PLEASE, THANK YOU, ETC!!
For anyone in the service industry to ask "how may I help you?" should be normal. BUT, IT IS NOT!!
Then there is the pride. They NEED the job but are embarrassed to HAVE TO approach people. especially there peers. (The fellow Black Bahamian)
They may muster up the courage to be pleasant to the tourist however, because, and only because of the so called "INCENTIVE." The 15% tip.
Yes confidence plays a big part as well Wide eye. But I think, they think they should be doing more than just serving food to people.

That's right!!!! Don't take no lowest from NO ONE, they need YOU, plenty other places you could spend ya money at, if everyone did what you did watch how fast these places would change their service attitude.

I worked in the service industry and I made a dam good living doing it for many years in the Bahamas. If you want to make the money, it is there for the making, but sadly Bahamians think to highly of themselves and can not understand that ANY JOB that pays the bills is a dam GOOD one. If you are embarrassed to let your friends see you work, then you are an idiot! The stupid idjits that are sitting on the corner doing nothing should be the ones embarrassed and shame. Thats the thing, it is COOL to be a screw up in the Bahamas! ATTITUDE, the Bahamas needs a new one!

Good for you! Don't take crap from anyone.
Next time, call the manager and complain. Venting to an employee who doesn't care will serve you no good.
We Bahamians get poor service because we accept poor service!

I prefer to boycott them, the last time I asked for the manager he row me out.
I took my favourite blazer to a dry cleaner's here in Freeport at 8 a.m and told the lady who served me, I want it on special. I paid the extra money to have it done by 4 p.m the same day. 5 p.m I went there for my blazer with my ticket saying special. She had the gall to tell me it ain ready.
I run so hot I tell her, if it still dirty, give it to me, let me take it to Supreme
(if you live in Fpo then you you who I talking about.) She went in the back, came back and told me it wet, vell child I was mad. I say give it to me wet, she refused. I ask for the manager.
He took my ticket look at it and say "it ain ready!!!!!" He was past rude, and also the owner. He slammed his hand on the counter and said SUE ME!
I said look just give me my jacket, keep the money, he said "call the police"
I went right over to Central Station and filed a complaint, the Officer said, wait till tomorrow and get your jacket. You ain the only complaint we had about him, I had a bad experience there too.
Well that was my last time spending a dollar there and that was more than 7years ago. However, his stink attitude finally caught up with him when the Govt introduced minimum wages. He did not want to pay his staff the full amount so he downsized and reduced his hours. He still operates with his bad attitude and have not spent a dollar there since.
