View Full Version : Who is going to heaven?
chancellor 05-19-05, - 12:10 AM Christians spend too much time trying to pick out the sheep from the wolves themeselves. That is not your role and no mortal has that right. I dont care what denomination you are or who is the head of it, or even if you are with any. At the end of it all there wont be such a thing as religion (not organised anyway) not even Christianity which we humans managed to mess up. What matters is your relationship whith Christ, God the Son. This finger pointing is useless. Besides, some people will be in for a shock about who got and who didnt get in.

WOw! so well said.
But what hapens to those that are lets say Jeweish or Hindu and don't believe in Christ. Oh by the way Christ never refered to him self as the Son of God, he always refered to him self as the Son of man.

True. He did refer himself to that. I guess thats humility, which we should practice now and then.
Well with my beliefs, Christ is The Way as it was called in the early days. I would only hope that no matter who you are that you would find Him in your way. No matter how I can try to breath Christ down your neck, its your decision in the end. it dosent matter if you like Harry Potter, the Christian Councel is not your salvation commitee(but i guess thats another thread)! Being dogmatic dosent help anything.
islandgyal 05-19-05, - 06:03 PM Them fluffy white clouds DO sound a bit boring ... I'll settle for making "thy kingdom come" happen while I'm still HERE. Other than that, I'm looking forward to a Jonathan Livingston Seagull-style adventure or two. Hope that I can take my husband with me ... :shhh: !

I think peter refered him to the son of God...when Jesus asked them, who do people say that I am?

In Luke it says Jesus is the son of Joseph and Adam is the Son of God the Creator.
If Christ is/was God the Creator why did Christ pray to God the Creator??? Why did not Christ just pray to him self. 2 separate entities. Christ is of the same thinking as God the Creator but not the same entity.

Christ teaches the Kingdom is not here or there but with in each of us.

The traditions of man not Christ or his example.
Vicky 05-20-05, - 02:37 AM Our Lady’s Prayer
An interesting prayer I found
http://home.earthlink.net/~jameylynne/Prayer.htm
Our Mother, who is with us, blessed be thy being.
Your love surrounds us and comforts us
Guiding us on the path
That leads back to You.
Help us to provide our daily needs,
And help us to heal the hurt we cause
As we help to heal those who cause us hurt.
Lead us to love and justice, and stand with us against evil.
For your love and blessings are the waters of our rebirth,
And the power that sustains us.
As it was, as it is, and as it will be, forever.
Blessed be.
bahmaboy 05-20-05, - 08:33 AM I too have pondered this question and have come to the conclusion that only those that have accepted jesus christ as their lord and personal savior will go to heaven it is the only way, as stated in the bible, this means no matter what denomanation you are as long as your religion has that one key factor you will get there  . all those other little squably stuff that divides us religiously are not important. I have even pondered whether my religion (baptist) was the right one?, is the bible a legitimate book? and after a lot of soul searching I have decided that IT IS becuase compared to the coran, the jehovah witness bible, and all the rest. the good ol King James is the only book that I see that has made accurate predictions. i.e. increase knowledge and technology, men will be lovers of themselves, governments uniting (european union, CSME anyone?), turbulant wars (iraq and it look like the USA tryin to beef wit Korea now) these r the signs of the times as clear as day. so in my opinion if your religion believes that there is another way to heaven other than through repentantce, yall got issues
Lincoln 05-22-05, - 01:57 AM Who is going to heaven? NO ONE!! Can someone show me anywhere in the bible where it says that we are going to heaven. Heaven is not our home. The kingdom of heaven is not a place to go. You can't say it is here or there.
But if you want to know who will be rewarded in the end read MATT 25:31. Those who help the poor and needy will enter in. Not those who walk up to the alter and repeat after the preacher. when ever Jesus was asked 'the way' he simply said something like sell all you have and give it to the poor. He never said accept me as your lord and savior.
bahmaboy 05-22-05, - 03:41 AM to those who think that good works get you to heaven or a reward heres what i say. christians that believe that the only way to heaven or to get your reward is through accepting jesus they also believe that as a christian you should do good works also so would it hurt to take that other step and do ur good works? :dgi:

No, it would not hurt at all. In fact "good works" flow naturally from the Christian life, as naturally as an apple tree produces apples! A Christian (or Buddhist etc) produce good works. These works are not done for gain, they are just done! It is part-and-parcel of the religious life.
bahmaboy 05-22-05, - 02:44 PM well said CG, thats another thing i forgot to bring up about the good works theory. i was just talking to someone the other day he didnt believe you had to accept jesus he said that the way to heaven is through good works and this is the reason he is good and try to do good and i pointed out to him that you shouldnt be doin good works out of fear of not goin to heaven, when you become born again God places those things in you. being of a kind heart, soft spoken, and slow to anger should come naturally becuase you have Jesus in you.
i do agree with you that it is ashame how some christians look down on a person that doesnt share their same beliefs and tries to make heaven seem like some kind of snobbish club that only a certain few get in. when you said pledge your allengence, in many religions one of there provisions is that you must pledge your allegence to either ALA, genisha, etc. some christians and other religions take this to the extreme. all God wants is our LOVE and repentance just becuase your not slapping a track on every person you come across or is a missionary in the Hills of africa that doesnt mean you love him any less or he loves that person any more. like Vicky said people have just come to over complicate this thing but thats just human beings we over complicate everything from shoes to airplanes.
