Bush is still alive and most of the world hate him .. so no I doubt Obama would be killed.

As to the person that said it, she is just another nut job anyway.

:hammer::hammer::hammer: I am sorry to say, although I did not waist any time viewing it, he might be in danger. :hammer::hammer:

Obama's presidency wouldn't be the first time that a black leader was in constant "danger", but what I resent is so many people expressing their fears regarding the possibility of an assassination.

Anyone who is prepared to go to that level of leadership should never fear assassination, for that threat always will be there. The man is not afraid to stand up and do his thing! So why are members of the public still propagating this opinion?

I've even seen a video with 50 cent outlining a similar opinion as Doris Lessing. Coming from a rapper who touted the phrase "Get rich or die trying" on his first album, that's punkish, to say the least.

A US president being assassinated in this day and age (post 911) would show nothing but inefficiency on behalf of the Secret Service to protect the person some would argue to be the most important figure on this side of the world.

The CIA would NOT let that happen.

Such an event would diminish their reputation globally and right now the US cannot afford to look weak or incompetent on their own turf.

They already have taken major intelligence hits with the Usama situation and 9/11. They cant afford to mess up anymore.

I am so sick of evryone saying that Obama will get assasinated. I do not think that the America of today is the same America of 40 years ago when JFK was assasinted.

it is a much more cosmipolitan society with just about every state having a large multicultural immigrant population.

Here is a young man preaching CHANGE an alencompasing message, so I do not think this lady knows what she is saying, as with all the attention hehas been getting of late if an attempt was goign to be made it would have already been done.

This is a good point in regards to Bush who is the most maligned US president to date. He has managed to escape any assassination attempts (..and I am sure there have been many) so far in his almost 8 years in office. Obama will be just as safe as any other US president, accept for those that actually got assassinated. The last public assassination attempt on any US president I believe was Reagan, so it seems that the Secret Service has improved their intelligence greatly.

If a successful assassination attempt was made on Obama, I would be inclined to believe that it was an 'inside job'.

In one mouth people say that he is the agent of change in America, the great hope to improve America's image to the world, and that he is capable of being in the number one spot. However in another mouth, the same folks bring the man down saying he wont even live to carry out the job. It really represents a lack of faith in the man and his ability as a man of colour to lead his country. People spewing this nonsense are not really ready for change, but succumbing to fear.
