Recently, there was a discussion about the song called- Funky Nassau, by ‘The beginning of the end’, that was released in 1971. The talks were prompted by the existing state of affairs in our city of Nassau, as criminal activities move toward the overwhelming point.
The conclusion was that Nassau is no longer funky, but is now rotten. This is no dancing or celebrating matter, because no one is in the mood to shaking up joyously to a stinking Nassau song.
Something has to be done urgently to eliminate the tensions, and fear gripping the nation- as a consequence of the violent, and deadly acts of the minority on the majority in our society. They must be dealt with accordingly before we all become their victims- one by one.
Indeed, political and social leadership- and action are urgently in demand to eradicate the unacceptable fear of crime level, and to let the monsters within our mist know that, enough is enough. Those against corporal, and capital punishments within the cabinet of The Bahamas, should resign forthwith. There, is where the first actions in restoring peace in our country, should begin.
This is no time for fundamental divisions within the executive branch of the government, as it relates to dealing with the killers, and other misfits who are intent in wrecking this beautiful nation of ours. Act now Mr. Prime Minister, or be witness to the beginning of the end of our tranquil paradise.

classicromeo22 02-21-03, - 08:56 PM I also share the same veiw on this topic would just like to say that i still beleive and know that it is very possible to speak things into being that is why i am very cautious to the things I listen to or allow people to say around me.
In conclusion funky nassau could have been a saying with a double meaning
What is being said here is very useful. We all need to activate in order to bring this nation to where it should be. There must be no thought of going back to anything. We must go forward to better than we have ever been.
We need to agree a national culture for our nation. When we agree and decide that it is good, we need to start inculcating that culture into our young people, seven and under.
People older than seven we need to educate about our current culture and act to bring about some approach to the desired culture.
Oh, by the way, culture is more than what we sing, how we dance, and what we eat. Culture is behaviour that identifies a particular group of people.
If we all laughed a certain way, that is our culture. If we are mostly dishonest, that is our culture. If we are for the most part inclined to be violent, that is our culture.
Culture can be shaped deliberately. Since it is learned behaviour, we can unlearn the bad and learn some good - deliberately.
We can learn to be honest. We can learn to be communicative. We can learn to forego violence. We can learn to be competent.
What would we like our culture to be?

dialogue is always a good thing...if we dont talk to each other how do we know what is most important to us?

I agree, but after we are done talking and complaining, we need some action.
