Try contacting Lands and Surveys, they used to have a geologist on staff some time ago.

yea I corresponded with a geologist in the US and he says as far as he can tell by the properties I describe that it is indeed a meteorite but that I need to have it confirmed by someone who can hold it in hand and study it.

Very cool. My girlfriend would absolutely love this. She's a science teacher so things like this really fascinate her. I'm curious, what made you pick it up though? It kinda does look like a peice of brick, why didn't you just kick it to the side and continue on your merry way?

I found it in my fathers yard about 20 years ago. it stood out plainly from the other surrounding stones and rocks. also, check this, my dads yard is located off wulff rd. and there are sea shells embedded in the honey-comb rocks there.
thats about 2 to 3 miles away from the nearest coast.

No doubt, as I believe the whole of the Bahamas was once under water and shall be again, lets just not hope in our lifetime.
