Can anyone tell me more details and information about the removal of garbage in the country? Do you have any garbage dump or something like that? Or everything is being burned like in Bimini? There is a big dump on South Bimini, I think this is just out of control...another dump area is behind Bimini Bay and this one is being burned. A variety of trash is being burned there...including wood, plastic, metal, styrofoam and other items.


They burn it out at Harold Road.

We could cover it, tap the methane gas and use it as fuel, but nope.....

they burn it, we smell the burning garbage all the time (even 10 miles away), not to mention daily inhalation of deadly exhaust fumes from gas and diesel vehicles not fit to be anywhere near a road nor a human being. Other day I was out west and the area was just one big cloud of smelly smoke .. you could hardly see in front of you it was so thick, and that was at least a mile from the dump.

My lungs been hurting last few days just from someone in the area burning their private fire (bush or garbage) .. it gets really bad .. the fire dept does stop them (sometimes, as they cant catch them all) but they really dont bother arresting them anymore as the courts just throw the case out. So the people just light it up again.

Global Warming is a hoax,period! This has been the coldest winter on record in 100 years,chronicled by record keepers in all nations, NOAA in particular. Although the ice in the North Pole is receding a bit,it is larger and thicker than ever in the South Pole.What seems to be happening is a Global Cooling and most progressive non-political scientist agree that this may be the onset of a cyclical ice age,either mini or major.

I must admit this winter I have not been watching the temperatures around the world but in The Bahamas this "winter" seems like summer. I know The Bahamas doesn't have much of winters but the temperature tends to drop, this winter it barely did!!!

This thing is being cause by weaker solar flares reaching Earth and we are indeed cooling.Cooling in far more dangerous than Gloabal Warming because an average degree or two in the temperate grain growing regions "bread baskets" of the world will precipate global crop failure and mass starvation,not drowning by melting polar caps as the ninnys have predicted.The last major cooling period of this type was during the middle ages and caused the Black Plague. It is believed that a lack of nutrition and rats living closer to people because of the cold weather caused the plague to be so serious and widespread.

I have not read or watched any of Al Gore's articles/films so to think I am getting "political" influence is incorrect.

I base my preception on atricles from online and of course docmentaries. Which are loaded with recorded proof of how we are destorying this earth. i will agree with you that the earth has been warming up and cooling down but the difference is our pollution is causing this change at a faster rate and it wouldn't be happening at this rate if the carbon dioxide we put in the air was less.

It is us, think about it the fossil fuels that have been in the ground for millions of years are now being burn this would natural increase carbon dioxide

ps: I am not an Al Gore fan, I am only concern about the mess we will leave behind for our children

Ow, I haven't heard about this legislation. It would mean that burning trash in Bimini Bay is illegal and this action can be prosecuted. Does this legislation exist in a written form and is available for public anywhere?

The dump at Harold Rd is a landfill...the burning occurs from spontaneous combustion (sp) of the garbage fumes with oxygen.

They have tractors compacting all day!

I had a client a good number of years ago who claimed that the dump was an expense to the government. He claimed that he offered them a million dollars a year to let him run the dump. (IIRC, he would allow dumping for no fee.) they wanted to know what was in it for him. His position was that that was his business. The deal never went through.

Pardon my ignorance but I always understood that the burning out at the Harold Road dump was not intentional. Can someone explain?

The dump needs to be a landfill,covered everday to reduce the number of vectors. As the lanfill grows,wells need to be drilled utilising perforated casings all the way to the base. The casings are to be capped and the methane gas collected from the wells and pumped to a storage tank or tanks,where the gas will be used to run internally combustion powered generators,producing free electricity.

All bulky bio-mass "trees,branches,leaves,brush,etc" needs to be ground,wind-rowed and composted to produce mulches and then screened to produce the fine topsoils that we are in dire need of.:hammer:

None of this is high-tech,it is a modest investment in our environment.
