I know very little on the subject, and reading through hundreds of pages really ain't my cup of tea. Can you guys post some of this info along with links for verification? I believe that if you have the Spirit of in your heart you will be able to discern fact from fiction. This is why Paul prayed that the church should posess the gift of discernment. If you have the gift of discernment you should be able to detect any error if it existed in the Bible. I have found none. I have learned that inconsistencies are a result of my own lack of understanding of the word. So I prayed that I will never doubt. The Bible teaches us that we must not be tossed to-and-fro by every wind that comes our way but to be stable and grounded in what we know to be true because we are witness to the transforming power of the Spirit of God. You see the world does not know the Spirit so they need to be convinced. We however know the Spirit so we need not be convinced. Who then should be leading who? The Bible is the mind of God so for us to fully understand it we must first believe in God. Only God can teach us the truth and only Him can guide us. One of satan's most powerful weapon is Distraction. The pursuit of knowledge is a "good thing" but not every "good thing" is beneficial. Satan wants us to get consumed useless text and deeds so that we might be detoured from our purpose. Here is my advice: - Read the Bible. - Allow the Spirit to guide you. - Know your purpose in life. - Everything outside of your purpose is a distraction. bsmbahamas 12-29-04, - 02:31 PM I read a lot of the distracting article - to date none of them seem to be more provable as fact than the bible. I have read of many times where the bible has been reconciled with history, it is said to be more accurate than the history recorded by the egyptians. I am also studying the Masons and the occult. They all are contrary to the bible as expected. I test everything by the fruits of the spirit and most importantly by the following verse: 1 John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: A book I read about satanism said that satanists cannot say that Jesus Christ was flesh and God. and it seems like most unbelievers have a hard time saying/confessing the same as well ... but there will come a day that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess, and each person will give an account of himself to God ... When I first started in the faith I thought it necessary to know about these beliefs also until I found that they all were covered in the Bible. You see bsm, Solomon was right when he said that there is nothing new under the sun. They only look and speak differently but underneath they are the same as the ones before them. I really don't follow anyone on your list blindly, as many of them would assert that you can be saved by works without grace, and we know that salvation is a gift. While I was on tour in germany with delroys pastor Miles Monroe he said something that blew the minds of everyone sitting in the conference. He said: "I used to call myself a christian but now that I know the truth I don't call myself a Christian anymore. Christianity is a religion. Jesus did not come to bring religion. He came to bring a kingdom". I to am not a christian but I believe in and understand the true meaning of christ. I believe religion has its values but in order to get to where we should be as a race we must surpass religion. It is of the tree of knowledge. We must climb the tree of life. In the beginning there was no church, no pastor, no religion and it was good. We were simply man living on our planet fulfilling our purpose of being extensions of God. As it was in the beginning so shall it be in the end. There is nothing to convert to. We are what we need to be. Christ is all and in all (paul) We are here simply to be. The gospel is simply the good news about who we are. When we realize who we are then there will be no more need of religion. But I am glad you found the one thing in my statement that was inaccurate. Good looking out! No problem. It was the first thing I saw. I will answer the rest of what you said in this way. No matter what we call ourselves it changes nothing because men will always come to their own conclusion. If I call myself a Kingdom Believer instead of a Christian then who is to say that a group of people belonging to this new name will not commit the same acts as those who call themselves Christians? Then what should I do? Change my name again? This doesn't make sense. Only God knows who you really are and only His Judgement is final. I am who Christ says I am. To the world I am a Christian and that is fine by me. |
