Anybody heard of the dress code they are implementing at the College? The only thing I know so far is that they are saying no hats, do rags etc in buildings on campus. Thats cool with me since I take off my cap whenever I walk into a classroom, but I heard that there are more guidlines on the way for students and faculty.
Man the rule say no hats in the class room...whats wrong with that...it is a sign of respect...if you want to wear your had, wear it outside of the class. one should never wear hats in a building anyways...that has always been a silent rule...there are more things to be upset about at COB....soon UB...like book shortage....

You are right. A gentleman removes his hat in a building. Education should be more than learning facts, it should also teach manners. After all, an educated slob is still a slob. However, hats should not be banned from the campus 100%. A hat is a legitimate means to protect the head from our fierce sunshine.

in my eyes, as long as it wasn't in writing it wasn't a rule. either way i'm trying to transfer out of C.O.B anyway (non-related). C.O.B is going to the dogs IMO

Hey I heard that COB just bought the Building where the Passport office and CID operated from on Thompson Blvd.
I heard that it is suppose to be used for the Under Graduate School of Business.
If so great idea but for $5 million dollars Whow!
Man you know how much buildings they could build right across the street on the Lake/Pond just behind the sports centre where they have free access to all the land from government.
Yeah good thinking guys. NO wonder the college is going to hell!
I bet Frankie the Snake had something to do wit' dat' sale.
We all know he's the Chairsalesman of COB and what he wants, he gets Right !.
Rumors have it that they actually have rights to the Big Pond land and that they are going to supposedly close off Tucker Road and build the new library in the student parking area. Sounds ambitious and interesting.

I was hoping that they would buy the building, but instead make it the new dorms. It's close to everything, food, the bank, the college and has easy access to public transport.
The old dorms are ratty and 'behind God's back' in a way. The School of Business doesn't need a new building, just some organisation of the building that they already have.

They've had those plans in place for a long time, and they also included buying some of the houses clearning them down, but we'll have to see how all of that works out.

I would have to disagree.......there is much need for a new school of business. If they can cater to the "hospitality management" students and the future lawyers, why not the business students. This would give them head start towards whatever chance they have in reaching university status.
Yes I agree about the dorms, now that should be a multi-million dollar project. Frankly, there are not as concerned as they should be, in the state of the dorms, or else they would have done something a long time ago. That is one of the biggest reasons that family islanders are discouraged from attending COB.
BOTTOM LINE:: COB needs a full external and internal makeover, before ever considering becoming a university. (what makes them think that if they reach university status, people would still be interested in going there?)
