MRSA being talked about on Dr. Phil right now.!!!

Any organism will develop a resistance to what poisons it,it just takes a lot less time for bacteria and viruses to do so,because of their short lifecycle.
When I was young I worked on a farm for a while.Farms breed a lot of flies. We had to rotate poisonous sprays and baits to kill the flies and maggots, because what killed them a few months ago now fed them.

Life finds a way to survive!:)

Yep this has been and continues to be a growing problem in both hospitals I have worked in (NYC and London).

One of the leading contributors is over prescription of antibiotics.

Bahamians need to be worried , since we tend to self medicate with antibiotic all
the time. We hang onto and/or share antibiotic all the time, this is a dangerous practice.

It is indeed. I agree with the doctor on the show that said, something like “It seems that antibiotic kill the weak germs and make the strong ones stronger.”

Besides the fact so many folks run to the Doctors and the first sign of a sniffle, all the meat is chock full of antibiotics, folks just cant get enough of that.

We use anitbacterial soaps, wipes etc. Any wonder we have super bugs?

:)

My mother-in-law caught it.........in a British hospital. She got it in a neck wound, she was placed in isolation for a few weeks.

Wow! It is terrible to think that there are a whole bunch of infections that thrive in the one place we should be able to go for our health - hospitals!!!

I hate to even visit people in a hospital - God knows what you will get! I feel “dirty” just walking in the door of a hospital!

It is nothing new though, it has been around a long time it's just that it now has a name.

When I was 18 (a few years ago now) I had a routine appendectomy in a UK hospital and was on the same ward as the kidney transplant patients. A couple of days after the operation I developed this same bug and was really ill. I was moved off that ward very quickly, put in isolation and had to have 2 other operations to remove the infected mess. Instead of a routine 4 days in hospital, I was there for 6 weeks!

its best sometimes just not to take antibiotics, especially for sinus infections which typically will go away on their own anyway. i cant take penicillin and have bad reactions to most replacements for it (most of which are already played out anyway), so i tend to stay clear of antibiotics unless im dying and they might help. i doesnt even take pain killers, less the pain keeping me from sleep. half da time medication rarely works anyway.

There are other things one can do to ease sinus. Salt water in the nose is good.

My Grandmother had a cure for anything related to the nose - colds etc. It seems you put a slice of onion in your shoe, near the heel!!! God only knows what it will do to your shoe, or your social life, but it works - I am told. I have never been desperate enough to try it! :)
