View Full Version : Bishop Neil C. Ellis ... We need to hear from you
Melody 01-13-05, - 12:13 PM I know this is not the religious section, but you see during the elections the church especially the Baptist had a lot to do with swinging the election in favor of the PLP.
They crucified the FNM for their sweethearting bill that is what caused the PLP to win.
Now they all keepin sweetheart because they have effectively silenced all rights of sweethearts in this country and can treat them how they please.. with no respect.
I remember the Bishop saying that if the PLP messes up he ga be the first to call for their resignation. Look at all the combruction and Ine hear nuttin from him yet?

NASBWI 01-14-05, - 01:33 PM Sweethearts? As in the women with whom MARRIED men sleep with OUTSIDE their marriage? As in "Thou shalt not commit adultery" being blatantly broken by Clergy themselves? lol Wow. And they have the nerve to condemn a law that would make that kind of action illegal? Did I miss something??? Please elaborate, Melody.
Melody 01-14-05, - 05:34 PM Bey where you been in the past 5 years. Were you not aware that the FNM tried to amend the inheritance laws by giving the sweetheart legal rights and dower in a common law situation?? I don't know where the act i now but I do know that the one with the children has been passed.
Did you not hear the many Sermons From Mount Tabor on this subject saying that the Bible says it is wrong.
Now that this thing with Bradley Ine hear no fire and brimstone sermons from Taborland yet.

As I hear it, illegitimate children have as much right to inherit as legitimate children. What does that say about adultery and fornication and the sanctity of marriage?

Is Correk! An I'm Assumin Melody Is A Woman,I hope if she is married she does not complain if upon the death of her husband some child comes to claim a part of what she helped to strive for. ps The bill was foolishness & that was why it was defeated,so get over it FNM.I here preachers railin against number houses also but that has not changed. Also when you go in the voters box I'm sure no pastor is in there with you.
Melody 01-15-05, - 04:23 AM I am married but that is not what I am saying here. I am simply reminding you all of the stance that the church took on this issue and now you can hear nothing from them. This has nothing to do with politics it is all about morality. You can not legislate morality and you can't take what is wrong and make it right. Further more i also disagreed with the childrens act, but it passed anyway. I wonder why????

the 'church' in the bahamas is full of BS .... there, I said it! :shaky:
12play 01-15-05, - 07:15 AM I understand the thinking behind what Hubert Ingraham was trying to accomplish because he actually believes in the golden rule (from what I can tell) and is not a faker and a flammer like most of us. The point was that the children were innocent. It is as simple as that. They should be taken care of and be treated equally before the law. Why can't Bahamains grasp this very simple concept?!Are illegitimate children barred from public schools or from receiving state sponsered health care or from giving tithes and offerings? Are they asked if they ma an' pa married to get a driver's licence? If the hypocrites care so much about adultury and fornication and believe that it is such a bad thing let us criminalise it and put it in the "code", otherwise get a life. Hell fire needs to be 10 times as hot for some of these clowns out there.I wish it would rain down on some of them right now.

Vicky 01-16-05, - 09:02 AM As I hear it, illegitimate children have as much right to inherit as legitimate children. What does that say about adultery and fornication and the sanctity of marriage?
Ah but what about the children is it their fault their dad and mom were adulterers.
No
So they should be entitled to inheritance and be looked after just as the other kids in the family.
Now if the Dad does not want his out side kids to get nothing he better bot have out side kids.

Or, have a will!
12play 01-16-05, - 01:10 PM I do not think that you can write your minor children out of your will so best to follow Vicky's advise!
I do not think that you can write your minor children out of your will so best to follow Vicky's advise!
Of course you can! Legitimate or other wise. However, only a swine would do such a thing.
By the way, you are right, Vicky's advice is the best.

Can a woman have illegtimate children? Or are all of her children hers? Just wanted to know if a woman has children before she marries, and subsequently have more children with her husband? Who has legimate right to her estate? If all of her children has the right to her estate, shouldn't the same be said for men? Why is it that society is always punishing men, allowing women to have more rights than men....
Is animal farm all over again. All are equal but some are more equal than others....
Can a woman have illegtimate children?
Yes, if she is not married and has no husband to give his name to the children.
Or are all of her children hers?
Yes.
Just wanted to know if a woman has children before she marries, and subsequently have more children with her husband? Who has legimate right to her estate?
If she dies without a will, her estate goes to her husband. That is why it is so important to have a will. That way she can make sure that ALL her children get what she wishes to give them.
If all of her children has the right to her estate, shouldn't the same be said for men?
No. The state should only recognize the children born of the union or legally adopted. Be they his or her children.
Why is it that society is always punishing men, allowing women to have more rights than men..Is animal farm all over again. All are equal but some are more equal than others.....
Some are more equal indeed, if one allows the state to decide who gets what. A will, properly drawn up, just about removes the state from any control. (Women, make sure your husband has a will and that you READ it! AND know where it is kept!)
For those who die, Intestate - the legal term for one who dies without a will, the state steps in. That is why it is so important to have a will and to up-date it often. For those who do not have one, get one! Or the state will mess it all up! I have known people who have died Intestate, where the state has taken years, and years, and years, to sort things out. By that time, inflation and lawyers, have eaten most of the estate up!
If you, or anyone else, never listen to anything else I say, listen to this GET A WILL drawn up!!!! NOW!!! Do any of us know the hour of our death? :rip: Do we wish to leave a mess behind us?
