View Full Version : TDMA to GSM
Brown Suga 04-23-08, - 09:33 PM So the big question...has anyone ported their TDMA over to GSM as yet.
Well here is my story, I didmine last week Monday. First there was a long application form to be completed. I don't know how many files BTC will have on me by the time I decide not to use their services. Then they told me the only way they can complete the transaction wasif my bill was paid in full. I told them that was not going to happen as my billis not due until the 28th of the month. I said this very strongly as I never owe them money. Well the supervisor, who went to highschool with me overheard my conversation with the young lady and she told her to go ahead and port the number over.
Well anyways...the process took about 10 minutes...BUT last week I could only send text messages...could not receive..now today I carn send nor receive..mind u everything else is working! :sparky: So being the lil techie that I am, I figured it was a programming issue with the SIM card so I go treking back up Bay St today to have the matter resolved....well some new person told me they have to call a technician, not even taking the initiative to look in the system and see if there is anything obvious with the SIM! I didn't have all day so I left my numbers to be called when they figured it out.
Well they called about an hour and a half later to tell me it is the phone. I have read the manual back anf forth and it is not the flipping phone. The young man seemed frustratd and told me the person brushed him off when he called about my problem! So now I need to know what to do! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cuz if not I calling Tellis or Kurt cuz this is riduculous.
BTW....my TDMA phone and the GSM phone worked simultaneously for the first two day! LOL
And I paid my bill today..I am thinking about stopping that cheque until the solve this problem!
So for me the jury is still out on this GSM mess..and the only reason I ported over is b/c my TDMA did not work on my last ATL trip!
Someone anyone please give me some suggestions. The model phone is Nokia 2610 (a rather simple phone)!
It's a good ting I don't live and die by texting!

Recommendation...change your phone back to TDMA and start "operation run the bill up"

Don't take this the wrong way, but as well meaning as their actions were, this is a prime example of whats wrong with this country. BTC had a requirement but the employee knew you so it did not apply to you. And the person who is stopped for a traffic violation is allowed to go on his way because of some connection to the officer stopping him. And the short tempered little thug who gets arrested for assault gets his case thrown out of court because a family member calls in a favor from someone in the Attorney General's office, giving the young man time on the streets to change his weapon of choice from his fists to a more deadly one.
And yet we just don't see it.
In any case I hope you get the phone working.

You are missing my point...the amount owing on my account is due on April 28 2008 I would never ask anyone to bend the rules for me. They put these rules in place for ppl that owe them lots of money...thousands of dollars in fact!
FYI...my bill was paid yesterday! Do you need a copy of the receipt?!

Unfortunately you can't go back once they take you off the TDMA system!

Whether the bill was subsequently paid or not is not the issue. The point is if it had not been paid at that point, as their rule stated, they should not have done what they did. This is not to say that their rules could not be revised, but until then....
Now why in the world would I want a copy of your receipt. Seriously. You appear intelligent enough to know that's not what this is about. No need to take this personally and introduce negativity.

But you have to realize in the business world there is something called discretion...she did not just do this willy nilly - she looked and my acocunt and saw that it is in good standing. Like I said I don't expct anyone to bend or break rules for me. If I was 90/120 days in arrears I would nto have even showed my face @ BTC!
But I get your point!
Also something is going on (wrong) with your quotes!
~*Lovely*~ 04-24-08, - 09:33 AM I think it is a BTC issue. They must have programmed it wrong, or forgot to give you the text messaging feature on your SIM card. It is rather strange that the problem would be with RECEIVING as opposed to SENDING though.

I think it is too and I really don't have time to butt heads with them. I will call someone I know to check what is programmed tot he SIM!
For now at least I am getting calls....SMT @ technology in The Bahamas!
