SpamStopper 04-24-08, - 02:48 PM  Ok first answer my initial questions, line for line, then we will know if we are on the same page to begin with . eg. what Operating System is it? :D The bold quoted part is fairly simple, yes you CAN do it! :) OR .. carry it by Yorick them and let them clean it up for you. G_pally 04-24-08, - 03:11 PM Yep, my laptop has its own personality. Everytime I either purchase another computer equipment or upgrade something in the house...it goes on the blink. This time I am unable to sign on hotmail or yahoo accounts. I can surf the net, even go on msn and yahoo home page, but when I try to sign in: It says explorer page can not be displayed. I tried a system restore, all that did was erase some documents that I had saved, and still not hotmail. I even tried down loading Foxfire...that don't even work...I did a virus scan and a worm scan....using xsoft and nortons...it found and cleaned off some stuff but still nothing... So anyone knows what is wrong with the frigging computer. Cause i vex with her right now. She is being a bloody B! sounds like a full disk cache. Usually it wont show mail if its full. Gotta clean it. Which browser are you using now? 1bigfrog 04-24-08, - 03:13 PM Ok first answer my initial questions, line for line, then we will know if we are on the same page to begin with . eg. what Operating System is it? :D The bold quoted part is fairly simple, yes you CAN do it! :) OR .. carry it by Yorick them and let them clean it up for you. It has xp, home edition. Rodrick 04-24-08, - 03:14 PM if you are adventurous: -Right Click on the C Drive in My Computer, Properties, Tools, Error Checking, Check now. -I would go into add/remove and remove programs that you don’t use. Make sure hard drive have more than 15GB or it wont Defrag. -Defrag (just for grins and giggles) -Download Windows Cleanup! and change the options to Standard, run (not demo) then log off -Download CCleaner Portable and run the Cleaner and The Registry tools, fix all issues. -Restart and see how it is. Send us some reports: -Goto Start, Run, msconfig, Boot.ini - check /BOOTLOG and click apply then Restart -Download HiJackThis from TrendMicro, run a scan and save the report (dont send to Trend Micro) -Goto the Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, and Right click save log file for both Application and System. -Goto the Services and Export the list. -If you used Nlite, save the Nlite Session file somewhere (not the _U one). -the Boot log file will be called: NTBTLOG.TXT and is in the Windows Folder -Also check the Setup Error log and if not empty, save that - C:\Windows\setuperr.log -Zip and upload these files so SpamStopper can take a look at them. Just my lil input.:) YorickBrown 04-24-08, - 03:35 PM This time I am unable to sign on hotmail or yahoo accounts. Also, what exactly was found on your PC when you did the scan? If your PC was infected with a particularly nasty trojan, it could have changed your "hosts" file, which would redirect certain pages to another site instead of logging you in. (The "page cannot be displayed" error is probably due to the spurious site being taken down.) That's just one of many hypotheses regarding what could be happening with your laptop. Or it could be something as simple as resetting your modem (and router, if you have one.) Also, just do the first part of what Spamstopper mentioned and then let us know what's up. 1bigfrog 04-24-08, - 03:44 PM Both IE and Firefox won't allow you to sign into MSN? Anyway, can also try right clicking on the Local Area Connection (or whatever name you have for your LAN or Wireless if you are using that) in the Control Panel, Network Connections section, then click REPAIR. See if that helps.
