Since I don't live in the islands any more, I am wondering what the reaction is to the takeover of the Nassau Guardian by a group of people which includes some prominent Nassau lawyers.

What do you think are the implications of this move? Do you think there has been any improvement in the quality of the Guardian since this happened.

If memory serves, this paper originated in 1844 and for many years was run by Miss Mary Moseley who inherited it from her father and grandfather. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I do read the paper online almost every day and although I feel it has improved over the years, it still has a long way to go to reach international standards. If it were at such a standard, there would not be a need for websites like this one!

I would be interested to hear what others think. Is the Guardian charting a new course toward excellence, quality, and truth?

Hi Guildlady,

Yes, I am also watching this "takeover" with interest. I understand the attorneys buying the Nassau Guardian are Bahamian, which is good. We need more Bahamians to invest in our country. My husband Erskine (real estate broker for Knowles Realty - http://www.knowlesrealty.com) is always encouraging Bahamian businessmen (and women!) to invest in property that he's selling.

I don't know if the purchase has actually been finalized yet. Does anyone in these forums know?

Best wishes,
Fay
