I read da trib-dian dis morning and saw one opinion piece by OB and was taken aback by what he had to say. . .PERRY WAS DA BEST TING EVER HAPPENED TO DAT BAHAMAS. . .BETTER DAN ANY FNM ADMINISTRATION HAS EVER DONE IN ANY OF THEIR THREE ADMINISTRATIVE PROFLIES!! He also intimated that our current economic problems are a dirct result of Perry gettin put outta da house. . .and Perry's major problem was dat heem had a bad PR agenda. . .but otherwise heem was dat bestest. . .heem had da economy purring like er kitten!

My heart goes out to Bodie.. he was a crooked lawyer who feels that he has paid his dues.. yet the bar association would not let him back.....

He was a PLP turned FNM caused Parry was the worst Opposition leader this country has ever known....

Then he was an FNM cause Hubert Ingraham was the best PM God gave to this country....

Then he went back to the PLP cause HI was bad for the country ...

Then Jeff went on vacation and he was given a talk show.... he felt he was KING... he was going to change the Bahamas...

Now after going in and out of parties cause Hubert was the best, or Parry was the worst.. then Hubert was the worst... and then parry was the best....

The man is simply hurting... I really feel him pain... I wish some how he just make of his mind who he ga support.. cause no body listening him to any more.. and poor parry and Hubert already got burned by him tooo many times.....

Disbarred Attorney Says He Is Suing Minister
Disbarred attorney, Ortland Bodie, claims he is seeking general and special damages for

According to a copy of a writ dated March 16, 2005, Mr. Bodie is seeking general and special damages for "libelous and slanderous statements made by the Minister.

Mr. Bodie's legal suit refers to recent comments Minister Roberts made in response to a Bahama Journal article earlier this week that indicated that displaced Royal Oasis workers may have to wait a while longer before the government delivers on its promise to make the millions of dollars in severance payments, as Mr. Bodie had filed a writ challenging the government's plan.

Minister Roberts, the government's spokesman on the Royal Oasis dispute, brushed off the challenge as "absolutely frivolous, adding that all the writs Mr. Bodie has ever filed over the years have not gone beyond the initial stage from the date it was filed.

At the time, he further indicated that Labour Minister Vincent Peet is overseeing the payout.

The government has promised to pay 25 percent of the redundancy payments immediately, the other 25 percent in 90 days and the balance within 120 days.

Approximately $8 million in severance is owed to the hundreds of workers and government officials say they plan to go after the resort's owners for the money.

Mr. Bodie objected to Minister Roberts' remarks regarding his lawsuits.

In a recent release, he said he is "sick and disgusted by the naked and deliberate, apparently non observance of the Constitution and laws of The Bahamas by the 'new' PLP and its leader.

He claimed Minister Roberts is a case in point.

"Roberts, 'God bless his soul', has managed to put some serious allegations behind him, Mr. Bodie said. "He is the last man in this nation, who should be talking about frivolous law suits and the abuse of the judicial system.

He was referring to the Minister's recent troubles when a woman he knew claimed he raped her, but later dropped the charge.

Mr. Bodie said if a bye-election is called in Holy Cross, he will throw his name in the hat as a contender. Many people are watching developments as it relates to present MP Sidney Stubbs, who is still fighting to get a bankruptcy order against him annulled.

Pleeze paying his dues will only come when he pays that handicapped girl back the money he stole.. His credience is not owed to the bar association it is owed to the child he teif from... It is her pardon that he needs to beg and until he does then he will forever be just what he is... A WASHED OUT TALK SHOW HOST!!!!

Wayne Munroe once said that Ortland Bodie's case is special because he was disbarred under the old Legal Profession Act. The old Act is different from the current Act because the current one allows for disbarred lawyers to be readmitted to practice. Therefore he's stuck under the old legislation and cannot be re-admitted (not that I particularly sympathize with lawyers that tief people money).

Bodie is up shyte creek because once you are disbarred that is it. There is no mechanism for re-instatement, which is why lawyers are hardly ever disciplined, I guess. I believe that most jurisdictions with a similar tradition also do not re-instate disbarred lawyers. Lawyers, stop rippin' folk off and being shady!
