Students shouldn't be working no more than 20hrs a week anyways!!!!

They should be studying...

An individuals personal obligations or lack therof should have no bearing on what they get paid. Their skill level and the rigour of their duties shoudl be what counts. It is no business of the employer if the employee lives at home or doesn't have car insurance to pay. That kind of tactic is disgusting, inappropriate and unfair. One does not have to have a load of kids and some lemon of a car to have bills. School is quite expenisve, as well as food and clothing.

ooh i hate ta hear when an employer wan get all up in ya grill with dat nonsense. My x boss used ta drop dat line on me as an adult. She would tell me you dont have any kids..yada yada,so life is easier for you. Yeah like I ga pull up ta da gas station and say I een get no kids and dey ga gee me free gas or go ta Stupa Walue and get a year supply a groceries fa nuttin SMT.

Here we go again on the Student Wage issue. A Nassau-based business has hired a student for the summer. They are not sure what other businesses are paying summer students. They asked me. I don't know.
The duties of the student include getting yesterday's invoices from the service men, sorting the invoices, tallying the amounts, entering the numbers in an Excel spreadsheet, checking the stock against the sales, answering the phones as necessary and paging staff when problems arise.
What would a student working for the summer be paid according to the average conditions for such employment in Nassau?

If its a full time 40 hour a week the lowest you can offer is $150.00 (labor laws).

$340.00 sounds like a gud first bid since the employer will always want to talk you down. I think the firm should pay $275.00 a week. NI will be deducted from the employee salary.

5 cents
