I've had black folks in Dallas tell me of the ruthless Jamaican warlords that ran the Southeast drug trade out of Oakcliff in the 1980's. They burned up a family of 12 KIDS (all under 17) in a house around '86. Actually barred the doors so they could not get out. One boy survived. The funeral pics are so sad.

On the Dallas thing....it is believed that my brother that was killed in Dallas was killed by Jamaicans from Oakcliff...I know the area only too well. My brother had a thing for hanging out with "bad" guys!

Oakcliff is in such a sad state nowadays...a bunch of crack heads and Reggae clubs!

I also think the warrior nature of our African ancestors may be more present in modern Jamaican culture. Jamaicans seem closer to Africa than most in the diaspora. They've gotten the best and worse of it.

Much like the Vikings who tamed the harsh North country and conquered many through brute force, IMO, Jamaica will rise again.
