brownting 05-12-08, - 06:35 PM Lack and neglect. Ignore children long enough and savagery will arise.
I also think the warrior nature of our African ancestors may be more present in modern Jamaican culture. Jamaicans seem closer to Africa than most in the diaspora. They've gotten the best and worse of it.
Much like the Vikings who tamed the harsh North country and conquered many through brute force, IMO, Jamaica will rise again.
I always heard that the most vicious and warlike african slaves were sent to Jamaica...i een know bout yall but i believe dat!

This is a rather interesting point! Because they are ruthless ppl. The Haitians are not too far behind either!
Sunnyjohn 05-12-08, - 06:36 PM I think Sean moved to Jamaica after being on so much trouble here!
On the Dallas thing....it is believed that my brother that was killed in Dallas was killed by Jamaicans from Oakcliff...I know the area only too well. My brother had a thing for hanging out with "bad" guys!
Oakcliff is in such a sad state nowadays...a bunch of crack heads and Reggae clubs!
They are trying hard down there now though with Urban renewal-type projects.
Bishop Jakes and Bishop Evans are really launching trying to minister out to the community.
Yes South Dallas people are STILL cscared of Jamaicans to this day!

they say that slaves sent to the Bahamas were generally from the Ashanti tribe, who were generally peaceful people.

I have had a few Jamaican school teachers tell me stories of eating grass soup.
I can understand the Haitians. They have been struggling since 1804. Those buggas never seem to catch a break. I mean look, one wiff of recession in the world and the first place that goes humgry is Haiti. Riot broadcast all international news.
The Jamaicans though, they still make me wonder.

I thought it was the Yoruba/Ibo sent to the Bahamas mostly?
Sunnyjohn 05-12-08, - 06:43 PM that sean was a star and so approachable...charismatic...charming...oh how i remember...I had cousins who was into drug dealers and I remember how we use to go by the house in marathon when we was small...so much a them dead now...
Funny, most people who "remember" him say the same thing- a charasmatic personality VERY different from the others in his profession.
That boy had a gift. Had he been nutured properly and followed the narrow path, we might have been calling him MP Sean Adderly. Instead we grieve a youth spent destroying other young lives.
Sad...
YorickBrown 05-12-08, - 06:46 PM Yorick Brown who is listed as a moderator of this site, according to The Tribune, got special mention. As well as 'Justice man,' 'Clanycy Wiggum,' and 'Michali.'
Yorick is quoted for his comment that kids were sexually active from the time he was in school which was the early 90s.
Yorick says, "Fix the eduactional system, run the country and STOP TALKING!!"
By darn, I was starring and didn't even know it. Thanks for the heads up
I must say Yorick Brown, "EXCELLENT JOB AND WELL DONE", I am not sure if you are responsible for creating this website for us to share our knowledge/views on.No, Bahamasissues.com is Delroy's site. Delroy alone deserves the credit for the creation of this virtual piece of Bahamian culture.
daBahamianTing.com is my site, which uses the RSS feed from BI to post the headlines of new threads every hour.

Remember the US did Jamaican in economically when Seaga got aid from Cuba and Russia...hence the devalued Jamaican dollar.....there are only two classes in Jamaica.
I have had teachers that were only here for the money! My aunt had a live in who left 7 children in Jamaica to come and be a nanny for 5 here just for the money. I could not understand that and that was more than 20 years ago!
