Sounds very good, are we talking about a white Bahamian version of Obama?. Just think about a White leader of the PLP, now that would be a revolution and evolution.
how so?

What are your thoughts about:
1) Cassius Stewart - Bahamas Democratic Movement
OR
2) Dr. Dexter Johnson - Bahamas National Party

LMAO..well muddo..true!

What makes ya'll think Perry will step down? In the party that's the best leader..Obie thinks he has a chance but nobody likes him and people are continuously bringing up the fact that he's a single man. Besides, what's the success rate of third parties-the BDM prolly won't ever have enough people to win the government and the BNP..ha well muddo

To repeat the initial question behind this thread, does a third political party have a chance to make inroads if Perry Christie is still the leader of the PLP going into the next election?

Perry Christie will still be the leader, because no other PLP M.P. has the character to step forward and challenge the weak and indecisive shuffler.

If the man who presided over a defeat where the opposition went from 6seats (excluding Larry Cartwright) to 23 in one term, is the best that the PLP has to offer in 2012, is there really no hope for a 3rd party like the BDM or BNP?

Point,
Do you consider yourself a swing voter or a diehard PLP or FNM?

If Perry Christie is still leader of the PLP, and the FNM's job approval rating is poor leading up to the 2012 election, does a third political party stand a chance of supplanting either of the 2 current leading parties as the new major opposition party in Bahamian politics?

Bey I ain know. Da Bahamas gat too many die hard FNM's and PLP's for any other political party to surface.

Sometimes I think we underestimate ourselves too much. After Sir Cecil Wallace died everyone said the F.N.M. was finished, this is their third time in Govt.

We pay no attention to what we have right under our noses. The Bahamas has a fine crop of young educated minds who are beholden to no party.

I would not rule out a third party, if the right people band together and present a viable plan, there are enough YOUNG voters in this country right now, to cause the F.N.M or the P.L.P to become the third minority party.

I ain talking about Omar and Casius dem, they ain ready.

I am a young person open to new ideas. Diehard supporters are quickly becoming an extinct breed, look right here on BI and count dem!

None.

I see only 2 options: PLP or FNM. Of the 2 I line up more with FNM---better of the 2 evils. BUT, I don't like the idea of wasting my vote on a 3rd 'impossible-to-win' party.

PLP can be replaced going forward I think; because dey look real shabby and youths are pretty disloyal all around.

Even if I were to consider 3rd party... I don't agree with alot of what Cassius goes on with... I think he gets away with madness because most ppl don't take dem seriously. He needs to be taken underwings of an experience person and utilize his enthusiasm more productively!

PC will not be the leader of the PLP.
Having said that, no a 3rd party will not have any viability in the Bahamas. The electorate isnt big enough, politically educated enough, and is far to loyal to their current parties. This has been reviewed, analyzed andd evaluated many many times, and I dont think it will ever happen.
Da whole worl don know I don SEE EYE TA EYE WID YOU. . .but wen ya right. . .I een ger take dat from ya! YOU IS RIGHT. . .WE EEN READY FER DAT BIG STEP!!!!!:hammer:

I have already given an opinion on Cassius Stuart; Dr. Dexter Johnson is reported to have said that he doesn't want anyone over 40 in the Bahamian National Party. Is this true Dr. Johnson? Barak Obama has given us the perfect example of how a third party can and should campaign to win the 2012 general elections in The Bahamas. It is one that should essentially be about change, needed change, promised change, abandoned change, and involve to a greater extent our college students and graduates and the 18-25 year old demographic. The campaign should be designed for and by these young people, they know how to reach and relate to other young people better than anyone else. Yes, financing will be a challenge, but original thought, nationalism and determination, should not be underestimated. Therefore I would like to put the nation and the world on notice for the impending debut of The Nationalist Party of The Bahamas. The only prerequisite for membership would be the ability to put God and country before party and friends.

BG,

I've been saying this since I joined last April. All any third party has to do is court Bahamians 14-30. There are enough of them to swing the government over IN THE NEXT ELECTION even if the PLP/FNM diehards DIE HARD.

The tide is turning....

I really have no qualms about Glennis Hanna-Martin. Even though she's PLP she was has a good record and was one of my favorites.
