View Full Version : 2012 Third Party Prospects
chancellor 07-12-08, - 04:17 PM BG,
I've been saying this since I joined last April. All any third party has to do is court Bahamians 14-30. There are enough of them to swing the government over IN THE NEXT ELECTION even if the PLP/FNM diehards DIE HARD.
The tide is turning....
I am disapointed with Cassius thought let that stand for the record. I never does see this man out of his conch shell.
in my best Bahamianeese
"An I did ax dis fella iffen he gat candidates for Freeport an' he say they will have some.....Bey I see no BDM on dat ballot!

I have said it for a long time now too. While a young person "might" vote the same way as their parents/family the first time they vote (especially if they turn 18 just before an election) Chances are that the second time they vote it will be based on the merits of the person/party.
A lot of our politicians/candidates do not seem to understand the power of the young vote nor the fact that they are a new breed of voter with minds of their own.

Unless he bucks up, Cassius is not the one.
Cassius seems to not realize the opportunity he has. The young man was able to grab the attention away from the FNM and PLP and actually get MANY people to CONSIDER voting for an outside party. That in itself was a miracle.
When he chained himself to the Mace, he should have had a 25 year national plan he read LOUDLY into the camera, people outside distributing said plan all wearing T-shirts and hats advertising the link to a sophisticated BDM website( No dead links or spelling errors)!
He is squandering the publicity and not capitalizing on it to represent a sensible plan to the Bahamian people.
Someone needs to challenge Cassius for the leadership of the party. Convention bloodletting and a good prunning away.... Yep...

The spelling, typological and grammatical errors detracts greatly from the BDM's website. I was embarrassed as a Bahamian when I first browsed. How can one criticize the educational system using poor language? Anyway, let the record reflect that I e-mailed Cassius and volunteered to edit the site's content for free. Suffice it to say that I have yet to hear from Mr. Stuart or anyone from the BDM. I think Cassius is being paid to stifle the development of a third political force in The Bahamas. Do you think anyone would do that, after all who would such a move benefit????

When I first heard about the BDM, it was like yes finally sootin releaf.but Cassius Stuart seems to be an adrenaline junkie who thrives on publicity.I mean cassius was all over the airwaves with what the PLP did wrong and what the FNM did wrong.People actually listened to this young man because finally, we thought true change.but when you scrap together a handful of persons to run in one or two constituencies, how are you supposed to form the government? The BDM needs to be regroup if they want to be taken seriously.
Well Muddo 09-16-08, - 03:35 PM The PLP is disintegrating. If Perry Christie is not removed (by someone other than Obie Wilchcombe) before the next election, the PLP will explode into multiple factions. Some will start a campaign to abandon the PLP and others will threaten to boycott the election. The problems are only beginning. Oddly enough, for a man that is said to be a WIMP, none of the major players in the PLP is courageous enough to challenge him. Is the PLP full of WIMPS?

Mr Christie, Mr Wilcombe, Mr Mitchell- they all need to recuse themselves from the leadership of the PLP.
The same thing will happen in the FNM if Mr Ingraham and others do not allow the natural process of succession to take place (instead of packing the leadership ranks with the uninspired).
To borrow a slogan from a long forgotten campaign, It's *PAST* time for a change.
