View Full Version : Testimony Service
FACTS ONLY 05-14-08, - 03:28 PM OK well here is the story (true by the way) Several years ago now we attended the funeral for a family member (in Nassau by the way, at a baptist church run by someone who is now a high-powered Bishop) This family member had caught his wife spilligating and he was devastated, he drove his car off of an area in Southern NP into the sea, succeeding in killing himself and one of his children. At his funeral, where everyone was in total shock, as you can imagine, the pastor invited people to start testifying. When no-one responded, he got real mad and start one piece of carryin on, still no-one responded, in fact some of us got up at this point and walked out. He then started berating the members of the congregation that remained again and refused to end the service until someone decided to bare their soul. On completion of that, he passed around the offering plate and asked for everyone to dig deep to support the church.
I don't mind telling you, many of us have refused to ever step foot in that church again even though it is only round the corner from the family homestead!
He mussy was calling out the wife to testify bout the "spilligating" but sheen no fool.:)
islandgyal 05-14-08, - 03:28 PM Yeah, I do. It is summed up in Sanskrit:
Om Namah Shivaya
I honour the divinity that resides in me.
namaste.

Chile, neither she nor none of she family attended his funeral and we were all told (including his parents) that we were not welcome at his child's funeral either!
islandgyal 05-14-08, - 03:33 PM There was a drunk in my church when I was growing up, she would always say these words and sing this song..
GOD BLESS HER SOUL!
I want to thank the lord for my lil space right here tonight,
not on no strenght of mine but on the wonderful strenght of the lord,
Church, amazing grace how sweet the sound, that save a wretch like me, I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see!
Those who know the "verch"(exact words) of prayer, pray my strenght in the Lord. (The word is suppose to be virtue)
Then she would try to sing IT CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR until her 1/2 pint fall out her bosom or the usher manhandle her to put her outside,
where she would proceed to cuss out everybody!!
I was sad when she died, she was the life of the Testilying umm um, I mean Testimony Service.
i think her brother used to attend the church out by me :cutie:
he'd come in from time to time smelling of mango rum, and really excited to be in church. he'd talk about the seven devils that drew him away from the church for a short while, and then rave hallelujah about the seven angels that drew him back in ... and dramatically fall to his knees yodelling "oh holy night" at the top of his lungs.
he was such a nice guy when sober that no one had the heart to remove him from the church, but we just about wet our pants holding back the shakes each and every time he showed up for bible study.
sorry, point ... i think we kerpunkle up ya thread!

me too.
he mussie was mad cuz he thought he coulda "lay hands" on someone that day.
at my church we give testimonies.
mine is similar to bahamaboy's. i feel like God has truly blessed me, giving me the financial and physical ability to go to university where it was all a pipe dream. sometimes i lay in bed at night, thinking of all the wonderful things God may have in store for my life. He is a good God.
when it comes to trials, I'm different from the average bear. I look at them as plights God allows to happen, to make me stronger, because without fire all a diamond would be is a piece of nasty ol coal. and when things happen for no apparent reason, and things arent going right, i look at it as it happening to i could appreciate the better points of my life. if i spend a day in the valley, at least i would appreciate and be grateful for the times when i'm on the mountain top.
God is good.
androsann 05-14-08, - 06:00 PM I think he thought that because he had condescended to conduct a funeral for what was in reality suicide, we should all be eternally grateful to him and do whatever he wanted.
I seriously hate it when I see dat guy on TV or hear his name :(
WinterGrace 05-14-08, - 06:36 PM good testimonies songbird and bahamaboy, I believe mine is similar too. I am thankful to God for provision such as a job, a roof over my head and good food to eat, a sound mind, a healthy body and good family and friends :)
i think God has really been good to all of us and He deserves praise..thanks for the thread point!!!
YardManPickney 05-14-08, - 06:42 PM me too.

No, the reason they are different is due 2 pressure, the higher the pressure the more the carbon will be diamond, i think you was meaning some forms of metals.
