Some folks were saying that there is too much negativity on this site! Perhaps it is time to give a little positive feed back.

Here is an email that was set to me. It is a great story about "Positive Attitude." It deals with an older person but some of us are old, and others will be!

"The 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and a proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.

Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window. "I love it," she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. "Mrs. Jones, you haven't seen the room . . . just wait." "That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged. It's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it . . . "It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away . . . just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account . . . you withdraw from what you've put in . . . So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories . . . I am still depositing."

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Do you have anything positive to post here? A story, or a personal experience? Some advice for life (positive of course!)

Thankyou CG, for this very inspirational peice. Unfortunately we on this site ca sometimes be very negative, and pessimistic. I myself try to keep a balance between the serious and the lighthearted, and I often try to do that by posting funny silly jokes and what not, just to remind persons that not every thing is doom and gloom, and that we should take a few minutes to laugh and hold our bellies until it hurts. I personally will try to make everyone laugh on this site, I am alwas looking for jokes and funny stories to post. As well I will try to keep a positive optimisim in whatever I post, though it is difficult sometimes. :)

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.

At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!
