androsann 05-14-08, - 06:58 PM Of course not Ann, I would never subject myself to such a low standard! By the way, I have been tried by under age teen girls, and have even shared it here on BI before. I consider myself someone with good morals, I try my best to keep my daily life and family on the "Up & UP"! I fall sometimes, but there are certain boundaries that I will never cross. that being one of them!!
And this may sound ill informed but I was under the impression that the legal age for consentual sex is
16 for females
18 for males
please correct me if I am incorrect with some legal proof.
The age of consent for heterosexual sex is 16 for both sexes, 18 for homosexual sex.

I hope that is good enough for you :)
An interesting article on the age of consent around the world

pharoah 05-14-08, - 07:03 PM This is sad...
this incident is involving children. Can you imagine the emotions but of these children are going through right now...My God that girl must be suicidal by now...
Bradley Roberts is wrong for making this political. He has children. In fact, the disgrace politician needs to step aside and bow out gracefully.
I shame for him, and more shame for the Bahamians who actually entertaining this foolishness.
Finally, someone with reason. There is nothing political with teens having sex. The school and the parents have dealt with the matter. End of story.
The girl's parents had a right to press charges, they refused and wanted to protect their daughter from public ridicule. The Folks who are making a political issue of this is certainly playing with fire and opening a Pandora box they should never open. Desperation makes a man grab at straws.
Bradley Roberts should be ashamed of himself.
Sunnyjohn 05-14-08, - 07:08 PM In cases of rape and murder, doesn't the prosecutor/police have the final say on whether charges are filed?
Aren't the police the ones that present charges to the AG's office?
If a crime was committed charges should be brought.
End of story....
bahamiangoddess 05-14-08, - 07:30 PM People today never ceases to amaze me. I am waiting for this girl or her parents to say she was assaulted indecently or rape. This happened a WHOLE MONTH AGO!
Everyone and they mama gat something to say except the alleged victim and this boy. His identity is of no importence to me.
Umpteen Police Stations in Nassau and so far I have not heard anything about any complaint being filed against anyone.
These girls do their thing willingly and don't talk, that is why alot of these cases actually go to court and are thrown out.
Check your daughters, I am certain they know better. She may be out school because she is ashamed that "SHE GOT CAUGHT", not because of what she did.
The boy is guilty too, so stop walking down a one way road, these children do not have wings and halos.
Carl Bethel assaulted no one, there is no criminal charges pending. All we have is a lot of rumors swirling around Bahamian style. The people who can dispel those rumors prove them as the truth have not done so. Until this happens, it is a non issues.
Apparently Bradley Roberts is without sin (rape scandal) and now he is casting stones.
How quickly we forget!
Throw yinna rocks na!

Agreed.
songbird 05-14-08, - 07:45 PM Now you see, you could get me runnin hot up in here right now :) Although in some ways I do agree with what you are saying.
In my view, if the law were to be amended, then possibly decriminalise a consensual relationship between two teenagers with only, maybe, a difference in age of a couple of years (as in this case) although I still think that the age of consent is there for a very good reason and that 13 is waaaaaaaaay to young to be contemplating having sex. However, once the age gap is wider and you are talking about an adult having a sexual relationship with a child, den lock dere azz up n throw away the key!
As for the case on my island, if it's the one I think you talkin bout, you best pm me cos that is sure gonna run me wery, wery, hot :realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad:
I'll PM you in a minute.
and personally i think the age of consent should be 18 all the way around. just my humble opinion.
SpamStopper 05-14-08, - 07:57 PM what on earth is this thread about?? :dgi:
What do you mean the sex recording were public, and this matter is a private until people interfered for political turmoil! So you don't call being caught performing oral sex in the back of one of our nations prominent schools, out in the public?????
Or is it that you went to say that the sex recordings were from merly public school students and this was a private school incident????? That's the biggest croc of double standard bull crap I have ever heard or think that you are suggesting. What the hell you mean not his (Bradley Roberts) business? So I guess his incident was your business, and the Leslie Miller stuff and all the others were better suited for public interest because of who they are?
Some of you guys are living in such hypocritical shells that it's impossible for you guys to use reason and objective thought!
QC is a private school, so it will be the call of the parents, school board, and the administative staff of the school to decide if they need to go to such lenghts.
Stop hiding behind party affiliation, and demand answers from everyone!!!!!!
Hey let me ask you something. Suppose it was your daughter, would you want it to be brought out before the nation.
If it was your son, and you were the minister, how does that become the nations business. Would this even be a story if it were not for the fact that a minister's child is involved.
Now maybe high school has changed a bit since I was there but I remember vividly numerous sex scandals at SJC when I was there.
After all high school is where the teens are, we can all remember where our minds where when we where in high school.
In fact Bradley's mind is still there thats why he get in trouble with that woman.

BAHMIA 05-14-08, - 09:18 PM That Bradley Roberts, a seasoned politician, would use this incident as a press opportunity says a lot to me about his lack of character.
Yep. :hammer::hammer::hammer:
BAHMIA 05-14-08, - 09:20 PM I need someone to second this. I just found out who the young ladies parents are!!!!! It was put to me that this girl was removed from another private school for being what we call "HOT"!!!! Please tell me this ain't no true.
It takes two to tango, but clearly this girl is in need of some POSITIVE attention and is crying out for help.
(Regardless of who her parents are.)
Bradley Roberts should be the last person to talk about SEX SCANDLE!
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
BOL HARD HARD...NOT BRADLEY LEMME SEE WHO ALL BEEN HERE ROBERTS :D:D:D
BAHMIA 05-14-08, - 09:23 PM Hell yeah, it changes alot, it explains to me why both parties were staying so thight lipped on the issue.
So if she was 'virginal' she would have more room to talk?!
Hell yes to your second question again!!! Are you slow or something, if this young girl has been removed from another private school before for the reasons of the same nature to this case, then it also says alot about what is her developing character and what she is not being taught!
What's your point? That she "trapped" this poor, innocent, young 17 year old? (Rhetorical)
That's bull! I will always look at matters like this with a open eye. She is not at the legal age, but neither is he. So why does the fault automactically fall on the shoulders of the male?????
To me, it's not that he's a male; it's that he is older than her and as a prefect, he is or was, entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of students who looked up to him. Instead, this girl was taking care of him. Seriously, he's lucky that he wasn't eighteen at the time, or Bradley would want his head on a political platter.
WinterGrace 05-14-08, - 09:54 PM what on earth is this thread about?? :dgi:
silliness it seems, just a couple of months ago, some members were willingly to give teenagers condoms b/c they said "they will have sex anyway better protect themselves"...now they want the Chief of Police to press charges against these teenagers at QC for having sex :dgi:
