Yahooey 05-15-08, - 12:30 PM Yahooey, man I can see more gabbage collection bbut it is more then that.. it is the grime, filt.. There is a problem with these food stores.. useing these plastic bags... There is a problem with these styrofoams that we Bahamians love to eat out... There is problems with cars that are spilling bad odours in the enviroment... Gabbage collection, cars on the streets..... stray dogs, Nassau is too dirty.. it needs to be clean up and we are moving too slow.... i always say that in this country we would clean up but not beautify. thats our problem. we would cut grass and rake but not plant flowers or nice trees. if you want nassau to be cleaned up we will have to adopt the singapore model. ive been there and that place is sparkling clean. flowers are planted along the streets and along buildings, parks and neighborhoods. every street is swept daily. i heard in singapore that every building must be painted once a year. there are no derelect vehicles nor abandoned buildings or stray dogs. vagrants are not allowed anywhere near the tourist areas or downtown. it is sooo strict that you cannot pick flowers, chew gum, litter or spit in public areas. if we wanna be clean green and pristine we just got to do it. JesseM 05-15-08, - 12:30 PM Amen to that... We as Bahamians live in constant fear of our lives... If I have to be out after dark I always call my house and make sure someone is home so that when I get to my gate they can open the door... Grab my bag and literally run inside.. NO WHERE IN THIS COUNTRY IS SAFE ANYMORE FOR BAHAMIANS OR TOURISTS ALIKE... PS IT IS TIME TO START HANGING...:cutie: Das why I ga do like Stone McEwan say: "Hangin Out In Abaco - Fishinin And Sail'in." Dey needs to put one big gallows in Parliament Square and hang dey boongy for this foolishness! watsayu 05-15-08, - 12:31 PM But don't u have the in road to these ppl - tell Dr. M what your beef is! I think a far better job is being done in keeping the country clean - we also have to play our role - look at the thread I started on Goodman's Bay on Tuesday!BUT before anyone jumps to the wrong conclusion.. Dr. Minnis is doing a great job as Minister of Health.. with the millions of challenges in the Ministry of health he is the man for this job at the time.... he knows the area and he has the respect of the staff. but the enviroment.. and I am not saying he needs to get on a gabbage truck and show off.. what I am saying is that he has to have a policy and start enforcing it.. to the max... Nassau is too dirty... If you go to some of these major cities.. and see what is been done to clean and keep the cities clean you would have to agree with me... SO let me giv emy grade for Dr. Minnis it is a B-... Yahooey 05-15-08, - 12:31 PM The news reported this morning the tourist was in serious condition but I was told the person died, can someone confirm which one it is? i havent heard that they died. just was in serious condition. i hope that they didnt die! watsayu 05-15-08, - 12:35 PM i always say that in this country we would clean up but not beautify. thats our problem. we would cut grass and rake but not plant flowers or nice trees. if you want nassau to be cleaned up we will have to adopt the singapore model. ive been there and that place is sparkling clean. flowers are planted along the streets and along buildings, parks and neighborhoods. every street is swept daily. i heard in singapore that every building must be painted once a year. there are no derelect vehicles nor abandoned buildings or stray dogs. vagrants are not allowed anywhere near the tourist areas or downtown. it is sooo strict that you cannot pick flowers, chew gum, litter or spit in public areas. if we wanna be clean green and pristine we just got to do it.YOU get my point.. NOW let me say that Dr. Minnis is open to suggestions... on this.. A major proposal is been prepared for him by a few private concerns and should be presented to him as ealy as Monday.... Sudecer.. the BIG PLp is also involved.. now the government has to put its money where its is mostly needed.. and a clean GREEN enviroment is extremely important... ... Sunnyjohn 05-15-08, - 12:35 PM Bahamians everywhere are lamenting about how they live in fear of the criminals. Time for the shoe to be on the other foot. .....Long term solution: Boarding schools. Teach these kids some discipline and you wont have to worry about them becoming criminals. Get them out of the negative environments which are breeding this blight on our society. The kids of the parents who ARE doing their job right are being killed by the kids of the parents who aren't being PARENTS. That is a tragedy. ...! How do we fix the parents? Relieve them of their responsibilty and them what? Left to their own devices they will destroy everything before the first wunderkind ever graduates from a boarding school. Do we FORCE every parent of EVERY child in boarding school to attend training classes? Do we throw them in jail if they don't? Progress can't happen in a vacuum. The parents have to be fixed and taught how to parent while the kids are being trained. How do we do that YB? Not an attack...a true attempt at understanding some of your educational concepts. watsayu 05-15-08, - 12:36 PM i havent heard that they died. just was in serious condition. i hope that they didnt die! They as in more then one....
