View Full Version : Who is Mrs Miranda Munroe-Evans?
FACTS ONLY 05-15-08, - 01:16 PM It has come to my attention by way of listening to Ortland's show, that there is an ad in todays Guardian.
I searched through mine and there, big as Billy, a NOTICE from the Bar Association notifying "members of the Bar and any persons having objections or would like to make representation are urged to attend the hearing."
But.........get this..........the hearing is for tommorow!! Friday, 16th May, 2008 at 3pm, Supreme Court Building, Bank lane. ONE DAY NOTICE!!
According to Mr Bodie, this woman was disbarred just recently. He said he had been disbarred 10 years ago and the Bar Association has REFUSED to give him a Hearing.
Who is Mrs Munroe-Evans and what was she disbarred for?
It is public knowledge now as the NOTICE is in the newspaper with her name in it saying the Bar Council will hear an application by Mrs Munroe-Evans for Restoration to the Roll, pursuant to Section 41 (1) of the Legal Profession Act.
If you know her or know someone she has wronged, call them and let them know the Hearing is tommorow!!:hammer:
Some have opined that Justice Nottage should not have been asked to accept the position because of past issues, this one is no different.
While I'm not accusing Mrs Munroe-Evans of anything, I'm curious as to what she did to have been disbarred. And..... does she really deserve a second chance............ so quickly.

Apparently she was caught lying for her father (Kingsley somebody) in legal proceedings.
When was the Act passed? if it was before 10 years ago, then Ortland Bodie has nothing to gripe about, because unless its expressly provided in the Act, laws cannot (should not) be retrospectively enforced.

Lying...Lawyer....excuse my while I catch maseff. :taped2:
But if the "lying" was sufficent for her to be disbarred, who the hell supposed to trust her and her word?

I dont consider there to be any parallel between Justice Nottage's case and that of Mrs Munroe-Evans. Justice Nottage is a judge and formerly a lawyer that was merely accused of tax evasion and other assorted crimes by the US Government. If Mrs Munroe-Evans is applying to be readmitted to the Bar Rolls then it stands to reason that she has been tried and proven guilty of the charges against her and then struck off. The same is not true for Mme Justice Nottage therefore the presumption of innocence is what differentiates the two cases. Justice Nottage is innocent until proven guilty. Mrs Munroe-Evans was proven guilty. I dont believe Ortland Bodie's claim that he was not given a hearing. He's a lawyer. He has legal training. If he is so aggrieved he should have filed an application for judicial review or pursued the matter further. The fact that he didnt tells me that either it is simply untrue, or he waived his right to pursue further recourse.

Her dad, Kingsley Munroe was jailed for "misappropriating" funds while working for ZNS. Apparently during his case she falsified some kind of evidence. First she should not have been representing him - conflict of interest!
She is one of BTC's so called lawyers!
She just got disbarred last year. Im going to get the scoop on this (as much as I can get) from Wayne!

Ortland Bodie living in fantasy land - he used someone's money - not small change! I don't think he ever paid the ppl back (restitution)...and if he is reinstated who does he think will use his services.
Same as Miranda - her reputation is for ever tarnished - and from her days at QC she was a slickster!

Is there a minimum amount of time that lawyers must remain disbarred before they can appeal - say, six months to a year, or no?
