Saw a story in the business section of the Tribune today. It appears the owner of the Gormet Market, Jeffrey Beckles had his TAMPER-PROOF box for his arlarm system tampered with!! Broken from the outside wall of his home and his home burglarised.

The alarm company recorded the that the alarm was triggered but put it down as an 'accidental trip" and did not notify Beckles or the police.

Beckles had another company remove the TAMPER PROOF box and install another, but it took two days for the previous company to phone to ask him if he had a problem with the system.

He had asked the previous company for compensation but they refused, telling him to apply to his home owners insurance.

Be carefull which company you deal with.

I am sorry to hear that too, but when the bad guys find rich pickings they keep coming back - even when the pickings dry up!

Possible, but when I call for a repair they come very quickly. The only trouble is they don’t always fix it right the first time. Sometimes, if it is something simply like a broken contact they fix it but really difficult stuff, not so good. Example - I had a motion detector that kept going off. They came and turned down the sensitivity setting. They did it three times. The fourth time I was told that wireless motion detectors don’t work well in a hot room (the room is very hot in the summer) so they took it out! I wondered why they put it in, in the first place. The wired ones work OK.

Hmmm .. its true the Ademco Wireless Motions (if thats what you had) dont work well in hot rooms, but even if thats the case it falsing alot would typically be due to something else. Problem is that local alarm companies cant always afford to pay the technicians with the knowledge what they are worth, so unfortunately not all the technicians one encounters will be very experienced; though typically they will have at least one on staff that should be able to properly troubleshoot the problem, but ofcourse it appears he was not sent to your location. Also if they keep sending a different technician it can complicate the matter even more.

What the hell is it doing on the outside wall? Or did they know where it was on the interior, and drilled through it from the outside? It doesn't make sense.

And I test my alarm company on the regular, by setting off the alarm.

I did not want my bo to be placed outside so it went into the roof now that would be more tamper proof.

SpamStopper got 2 outside .. 1 inside .. dont worry .. they get one, there are 2 more to blast they ear drums .. inside the attic is not as loud unfortunately, but if one is putting it outdoors it should be placed out of reach. Also, the tamper switch is to set off a silent panic when the box is tampered with, typically. Even nicer when it is set to an audible alarm and when they on their ladder opening the box it might just make them fall off the ladder! :D

Ofcourse, there are ways around everything.

Nope, also many of the more well known companies in Nassau could be considered better than ADT.
