1 Samuel 18 (King James Version)
1And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
2And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house.
3Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
and a covenant joining 2 people in love is what??

not necessarily a marriage. so vicky, if i do this thing with my best friend right now, are we married? yes but what kind of marriage is it. You see I am not saying David and Jonathan had sex or not what I am saying is they had love for each other. If 2 people of the same sex love each other they should be allowed to marry. What they do behind closed doors is not yours or mine or anyone elses business.
sad as i am, i actually see your point. these two did love each other, and committed themselves to one another. but in a marriage? no. in love? yes.
dont forget the three types of love.......eros, philios, agape. and a host of others. I got the impression that Jonathan and David loved each other like brothers, and we dont know what the contents of this covenant were. they may have been in love, but was the covenant made OUT OF LOVE?
yes i know im nit-picking, but hey, let's get technical.
Well I think it was homosexual or even bisexual as one said to the other that he loved more than that or a woman. Would you love your friend more that your husband (thinking you are a woman with an understanding of marriage to a man.)

I might, but that's different kinds of love. :D Great discussion. I'm done with this thread for tonight. excellent points Vicky, will be sure to use some of them in another debate. :hammer:

We will have lots to talk about on our lunch date...loon jokes.
Why these ppl misinterpreting The Bible?
or could it be that it was misinterpreted in the first place. After all look at all the mistakes in the past.
What happened to treating some one as you would want to be treated.
As in would you want someone telling you who you can love, marry and spend your life with??

See Vicky that is where the problem comes in, Love, Marry, and Spend your Life with?

Four Questions.

Were your parents married?

Were they in love?

Are they Still Married today?

If your parents were homosexual, would you be having this conversation today?

All personal Agendas aside, all religious beliefs aside, all the discrimination and the right for this and that aside, put aside all forms of homophobia, juss a straight up answer is all I am requesting to each of my questions above and below.

Why support something that would have prevented even you Vicky from existing on this planet and better yet (being a member on B.I. to have the conversations you are discussing?)

so you are saying that a heterosexl is more human than a homosexual??
as a herterosexual can marry who he or she wants but a homosexual cant marry who they want?

Pure twisting of logic again. You are saying that those that can marry are more human? Bosh. Are celibates less human for not marrying -- I think not.

Again more slippery twisting of logic and words. A hetersexual cannot marry who she or he wants. They have to follow the laws. A heterosexual woman cannot marry another heterosexual woman in a marriage of convenience. A heterosexual cannot marry their sibling.

Even the examples you gave -- the marriage of lipstick ... yada yada ... even though it was an inane example -- it proved my point. It was the joining of two different things -- not two of the same things.

Why cannot you understand that a marriage is a union of a man and a woman? You have been through a couple of them yourself. The intrinsic idea behind marriage, ... no I will explain it in simpler terms ... what marriage really really really means, is a man and a woman joining together. What apple pie means is apples and sugar surrounded by pastry crust. It you put lemons in it, it is no longer apple pie. The same with marriage -- if you have two of the same sexes, it is no longer marriage. Man, this concept can be grasped by someone in Grade 5.

Equal rights. Ha. Pure sophistry. I am for equal rights, but I am against gay marriage for the reasons elucidated in my posts. But for those who didn't read it or have a short memory or an IQ the size of their shoes, here it is again: Same sex marriage is the direct antithesis of what marriage is -- a union between a man and a woman.

There is absolutely no way that you can say that those opponents of same sex marriage are not for equal rights. That statement is about as bent as some genders around here.
I think that your posts are brilliant. So, who are you really? Just kidding. What is important is that many of your thoughts are in agreement with The Word of God, so please be careful of the subtle attemps to shake your faith by the exposure to the humanistic philosophies from the East that you mentioned in a recent post.

Were your parents married?Yes Feb 23 2007 they celabrated 50 years
Were they in love? Yes they were
Are they Still Married today? No Mom passed May 1 2007
If your parents were homosexual, would you be having this conversation today? I know what you want me to say. What you are asking is imposable just as it is impossable for a hetro couple where one is sterile.
But you forget one thing Homosexuality has been around from the begining yet humanity is still here. Why because of the law of average just as there are a precentage of human that are left handed as there are a presentage of humans that can roll their toungs this is a presentage of homosexuals transsexuals and intersexuals.
All personal Agendas aside, all religious beliefs aside, all the discrimination and the right for this and that aside, put aside all forms of homophobia, juss a straight up answer is all I am requesting to each of my questions above and below.

Because not all human beings will be homosexual there will alway be breeders. Just thinking here for a moment would you ever be homosexual??

Hi there Vicky:

I'm sorry that I'm just getting back in from a hectic afternoon of organizing for a big event on Saturday. I am not ignoring your posts, however, when I checked earlier your matters were so complex that I decided to send a brief, polite note to Lurker and that I would spend some time in the early morning giving you a lovingly detailed response.

I have heard you several times on the radio, so although we have never been introduced, you are familiar to me and as a Bahamian, you are an important member of my tribe. So, it's already 10:30 here or 1:30Am Bahamian time but I promise that when you rise in the morning there will be words on this site which were prepared just for you.

If you are awake please turn on TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network)and let's watch the movie of King David's life. I'm sure that you will find that the strong love of David for Jonathan as mentioned in the scripture is without a hint of homosexual lust.

If what you suggest was true, they would have been stoned to death, perhaps arranged by that same man who later pointed to David when accusing him of adultry, who said: "Thou art the man!

After the movie, I'll share my take on the relationships.
