No one can fight dat at da constitutional level. . .it is clear. . .and even da privy council cannot deny dat. . .check da british redishion of dat proposition (idea of ha da PC will rule). . .there een no constitutional compromise. . .but an accomadation of those permitted in other countries can move to britin and live as "person of interest" or some shed like dat. . .but not as husband and wife. . .from what I gathered!
Yinna must member dat da Privy council ruled in dat hangin question dat da penal code ch 48 in stating hanging in all murder cases was contrary to OIC 69. . .not dat it was in da constitution and must be moved! Same as government "power" ta enforce exceptions to blanketed non-discrimination on bahamiaan citizens. . .and marriage is one of dem constitutional exceptions!!!
Cassy. . .I een know ya. . .but chile. . .you een ger be "legally" married ta da same sex in dis bahamas fer da near future. But who knows, dese young people is a ting unta demsef. . .dem may make dat required change later through referrendum!!! But fer nah ma dear. . .whatsayu dem een ger give you shed. . .dem gat constitutional law. . .however discrimnatory inna ya eyes. . .on dem side!! You lost afore ya start!!:cutie::cutie:

No problem "spar", I call it the way I see it... :)
truth_hurts12 05-21-08, - 12:04 AM ya'll will end up fighting constitutionally and if you do success then it will go to a referendum to define the marriage act and dog eat ya lunch twice if you take dis to the Bahamian people.
However the "marriage act" is defined or redefined by acts of Parliament, it can never be in contravention to the basic tenets of the Bahamian Constitution... :bouncy:
This is how in a parliamentary democracy, such as the form of government in our Beloved Bahama Land, the judiciary maintains its "checks and balance" over the legislature. Otherwise, theoretically speaking, a rue government could vote in laws that may be favourable to them but unconstitutional, without fear of any opposition... :hammer:
truth_hurts12 05-21-08, - 01:02 AM Don't you understand I have been talking with them for a while now. They have asked for my and RABs help. I told Cassy about BI when we were talking about the wedding plans. I wanted her to hear some of what people will say. Iwant them to know they will be the scaraficial lambs so to say.
Ask her I warned her over and repetadly that there will be a lot of problems to face. Once they start it it will be out there forever. I think I have even been discouraging as I don't want them to think this will be a bed of roses. So please stop trying to make it about [B]me.
Let us see, add up the score, how many "I"s, "my"s, and "we"s? :sarcastic :
Amazing, is it a record? Seven (7) "I"s in total... :footmouth
One "my"s...
And only one "we" Hmmmmmm??? :dgi:
WHAT CONCERNS ME IS THE STATEMENT... "I want them to know they will be the sacrificial lambs so to say."
MY QUESTION IS "WHOSE" SACRIFICIAL LAMB, AND "WHY" IS A "SACRIFICIAL LAMB" REQUIRED IN THE FIRST PLACE... IMO, THIS DEFINITELY REQUIRES CLARIFICATION... :taped2:
Accordingly, I invite you all to re-read post #1. :dgi:

Listen here "lick and split", what I wrote was not meant to be a legal brief or an argument before the Privy Counsel for the rights of gays to marry in our Beloved Bahama Land... :footmouth
However, I am certain that, if challenged before the courts, the case will ultimately end up before the privy council... :taped2:
In my opinion, it would behove the Government to allow gays to marry and put the Bahamas on the map as a touristic destination for "gay marrage"... It would certainly boost our lagging tourism market... :sailing:
As far as my words here, they were not meant for you, an obvious anti-gay. But to encourage those individuals who happen to be born with a homosexual orientation, have entered into a same-sex committed relationship, and now wish to marry the person of their choice and enjoy all the legal privileges of a "marriage contract", as stipulated by law, as their heterosexual counterpart... :lafs:
TRUST, THE GOVERNMENT WOULD BE ILL-ADVISED TO OPPOSE THIS BEFORE THE PRIVY COUNCIL AND ULTIMATELY THE WORLD, who would be watching... :biggie:
Priest 05-21-08, - 02:02 AM I didn't know that homosexuals had ever lost their right to marry. When did this happen? As far as I know everyone in the Bahamas has a right to marry. Homosexuals, if you would like to marry, find someone of the opposite sex and marry... it's that simple.
Marriage is exclusive to man and woman... by choosing a homosexual lifestyle, which the lifestyle is a choice, then one chooses to give up that right to participate in a relationship not in accord with societal norms. I just don't get it... why complain over not getting something that you already have? Strange.

BROTHER, YOU ARE IN THE DARK AGES... COME INTO THE LIGHT!!!
Vicky 05-21-08, - 03:27 AM Cassy I am going to make this suggestion on open forum so others can offer their input.
As when you do this you will be thrust into the publics eye and when that happens you will not be able to take it back it will be for life.
In our society as long as we are invisable we are pretty much left alone. Another words if one is known to be GLBT its ok as long as they don't show it or say anything.
Why don't you sample public opinion by being affectionate in public show you are a couple hold hands and such. This way you life will have limited exposure and you will get a better idea what you will face when the media makes you life public.

back off you don't want to mess with this adult. see I did not use me I my any better. You are the only person ever banned from the Rainbow Alliance of the Bahamas we will not bend to your will like children.
How long have you and adidas been together??
why don't you go down and apply for a marriage licence?
or are you to afraid to be the first? and now you know "WHOSE" SACRIFICIAL LAMB, AND "WHY" IS A "SACRIFICIAL LAMB" REQUIRED IN THE FIRST PLACE...
adidasboi987 05-21-08, - 04:18 AM back off you don't want to mess with this adult.
LOL...Really now??...I could call you a child based on your actions...but that would be to easy...
see I did not use me I my any better.
hmmm...
You are the only person ever banned from the Rainbow Alliance of the Bahamas we will not bend to your will like children.
Please Vicky...give it a rest... I pointed out earlier how useless and trivial your association is but beyond one's desire not to belong to a group of people with no vision or drive to do anything but ganer attention...It is impossible to be banned from an organization to which one has never been a member of or had interest in doing so...You boastfully use this as a trump card in an argument when you cannot with a cool head discuss something...it shows your childish nature...and provides evidence to your delusional state....
How long have you and adidas been together??
Long enough...
why don't you go down and apply for a marriage licence?
For the same reason that NO member of the Rainbow Alliance has...You mean to tell me none of the gay rights activist of the Bahamas are involved in COMMITTED relationships to the point that they chose to validate their relationship by challenging this law?....Unbelievable....SAY IT AINT SO!!!!!...
or are you to afraid to be the first?
I/We chose not to get "married" just for the sole sake of challenging a law....if the objective here was to merely challenge a law then why didnt ANY one of the consenting adults of the RAB do it...Hell you like being the "first" why didnt you divorce your wife and marry a man and you can be the first same sex couple and the first transexual of the BAHAMAS...
and now you know "WHOSE" SACRIFICIAL LAMB, AND "WHY" IS A "SACRIFICIAL LAMB" REQUIRED IN THE FIRST PLACE...
The wording is inappropriate considering the climate of violence against homosexuals to which you should be fully aware of...It's really scary for you to say "sacrificial lamb" in this instance...
"sacrifice" denotes adjectives that conjures up thoughts of violence, danger, death...etc...I hope these young ladies have been briefed that certain manners of persecution and ridicule are to expected BUT I would assume that the satisfaction of that commitment they make to each other should certainly overshadow the persecution they may face...The love/commitment/joys of marriage should in my opinion be the ultimate goal of this couple...not a publicity stunt...I do hope these girls find happiness in whatever they decide..
I hope more though...that the RAB as the group they sought help from offers them the neccesary support that will need through this ordeal not for the RAB's sake but the girl's...
PS: Since you have used BI as the official mouthpiece of the RAB's latest objective why wasnt there any mention of your plans in the news article? And when does the couple intend to go public?
