This is quite amazing coming from you.....Everytime something comes up about the law, you are always able to quote from the constitution....So what happen to you all of a sudden???
You suddenly got alzheimers??
Pier Dupuch was able to quote from the constitution on the responsibility of the adults in a case such as this so why can't you??
I would have done so but I forgot where he quoted from......

I see. So you can't help me or anyone else. Thanks anyway.

Both the kids are believed to be minors. The male 17, and the young lady 13. No, by no mains should the parents put there children to public ridicule, but it happens. What makes this situation so acceptional??? I for one am not asking for the names of this young lady or this young man. I would like for the minister to either confirm or deny the reports. Simple as that! Never asked for anyone's resignation!
The parents have the rights to choose how far they are going to take things, in terms of to the police or the courts, but the school has a OBLIGATION to report this incident to at least Social Services or some type organization. It's there duty.
Those issues haven't gone unreported, they just weren't dramarized and put out there for the public to weigh in on the subject. I am such that SS have hundreds of files of like wise incidents and school brawls, and there participants, as I am to believe that they are the ones that deal with these issues that develop or arise at schools here in the Bahamas.
So you believe that they wouldn't go on with their lives because of this??? Man plenty others have faced and braved the winds of the public spectacle and have went on to become productive citizens of this nation.
i agree with you B21. its the schools responsibility but what i find so amazing is this issue is a plp and fnm thing. when can we grow up out of this pettiness and talk about these things constructively with objective criticism. come on people GROW UP!!!!!!!!.

I am new to this site and after reading some of the comments to this thread I had to sign up.

I am so suprise at how people in the Bahamas are actually thinking. There are those who are saying that it didn't happen, well if it didn't happen why was the boy demoted so to say and suspended obviously something happened.

Then there are those who say well the mother didn't come forward and if it was their child they would have come forward and since she didn't do anything blah blah blah, where the hell are you people living, almost every day acts like this happen and parents are sometimes helpless to do anything, some of them just don't care and some of them are intimmedated because of who the people are.

I know a lady who's daughter was molested by her landlord's son and to keep quiet she was given $500 and 2 months rent free. I myself tried to report an incident where a 14yr old girl stayed out for 2 weeks with her boyfriend who was 27yrs and the mother new about this relationship.

Well the police sent me to social services ,social services sent me to the police, who in turn ran me around for about 3 days and no one stepped in to help. It is obvious many people have a political stance on this subject but are missing the real picture,Mr Bethel should not resign but his son should face the law.

The school should also be facing the law,and made an example of,I don't believe the young man should go to jail because of the proximity in age but should be made to proform community service for about two years.

Now to all those Bahamians who think this is a small matter that should be brushed under the rug, what do you think the crimminal community is thinking right now, well I could surley tell you this isn't sitting well with them and yes students were having sex in schools from time and memorial and no one reported it but that does not make it right to sweep it under the rug.

This is a slack little country, what ,tou haven't seen all the 13 and 14 yr olds who are having kids and no one is being sent to jail. Where are you mothers and I bet some of you are right here reading this and saying "well das her boyfriend and he say he gan take care a da baby", shame on all of you throw baby showers for those little girls who are having babies and are babies themselves, but you know what nothing will come out of this one, so when Plywood go and deal wit ya 14yr old daughter and he is a 17yr old thug I hope you able to take it.

I support the truth, it does not matter who says it. This is something you should practice. The FNM is not always right.

When are we going to be able to come together as PLPs and FNMs to discuss issues without throwing stones at each other????

I will tell you when, NEVER because we are all too "petty" to use your word!!

I don't think that we will ever be able to do that because there will always be a party trying to gain the roll of government and a government trying to retain its position!!!

So you need to wake up and realise that this is reality!!

To watsayu the FNM is the TRUTH so you are wasting your time trying to convince him otherwise...

I head an old man from GB said that even if the FNM mess him up he will still vote for them because he has been voting for them all of his life!!

Watsayu is no different...20 years from now he would be saying the same thing!!

My boy Carl ain't got nothing to do with this

It was up to the mother or father of the girl to step forward.

They mussy think they could get some money and when the cash cow did not deliver the milk, they exposed this event.

You know I's FNM right?

I still think Carl Bethel's son should face the law and the Teachers/Board should as well. If it was mine or your son they would be expelled and more.

I worked in an office where two consenting adults were caught getting down about 9pm and got fired.

So let me get this straight!? You are saying because there is no video tape recordings or pictures of this incident taking place, that it is a total fabrication of the opposition and it's supporters?!?!? So we are playing by the R Kelly act? (which states that there must be numerous recorded accounts of sexual acts on display for the story to be true?!)
In some regards your first statement is correct! Carl bethel did nothing!!!! NOTHING!!! He hasn't even commented on the issue! Which if it is a bunch of bull, he would've glady have the opportunity to debase and sucker punch the opposition in there false claims. So by him keeping hush hush on the matter makes others believe that it is true.
No I understand that he is not to blame for the young man and the young lady's doing, but as the MOE his is obligated to say something especially after having so much to say after the video tape recordings and the youtube incidents he was all over speaking about in the media!!!
is it his responsibility to respond though??...:dgi:

IF there is some criminal allegations or charges to be made that matter is before the police and the courts...that matter doesn't concern or come before the Minister of Education...
