This 'story' was never on the radio. I work there and have not heard about it. We are waiting for information from people we trust to give credible information.
Altantis is like an Island in this Nation. What I mean by that is that everything that can happen in a small community, happens there. Crime, deaths, thefts, fights, etc..
There is The Cove, The Reef, Ocean Club, The Casino, The Beach Tower, The Coral Tower, The Royal Tower, Harbourside, etc. There are over 9000 direct employees. Each facility has resturants/dining rooms, showrooms, meeting rooms, etc..
I say all that to say that what happens in one area is not always talked about in other areas. Coupled with the fact that there are numerous shift times. At meetings is usually when one hears of stuff that occurs out of the ordinary.
For instance..the deaths of patrons in the casino are not heard or talked by those who work in the various Towers.
Learning CPR is offered but not mandatory. Even some who have learnt it, refuse to perform(sp), sometimes out of fear and panic, and sometimes out of the sheer randomness of the instances. Added to that, most tourist have either their cameras, camera cell phones or camcorders and are always ready to sue!!

I think it is not talked because of confidentiality.....ppl could loose their jobs for having loose lips. I know we were expecting friends at the marina. They told us the day but not the time they were coming in. I know the Marina manager and he would not budge with whether or not the guests were dock or not!

Ya carn blame dem...I know I take confidentiality seriously as it relates to my job!

When a person is choking, they can't say anything, they can't breathe, their throat is obstructed. I have seen the Heimlich used twice on people in restaurants when they were choking. Unless someone knows what to do, people do tend to just stand around. CPR and the Heimlich should be taught to EVERYONE. My daughter's friend bit off a chunk of a styrofoam cup one time and was chewing on it, a piece went down her throat and she couldn't breathe. My daughter had been taught the Heimlich in school and she performed it on her friend. The piece of styrofoam popped out of her mouth and all was well. A simple procedure and a life saver.
They can signal.....I eat out often and have seen someone on one occassion wave a person off who was coming to assist!

Since when does a restaurant staff need to know CPR?
The Heimlich thats a given, we all knew that, SpamStopper even had it done on himself once by a chef when he was choking on some fries, saved his life. In fact learnt how to do it himself after that, when you are alone, use the edge of a hard sofa.

I think it is a good idea to have at least two ppl...u just never know.....

In the US, you cannot be a nanny unless you know CPR, but here we hire nannies all willy nilly to be home with our children, some carn evn speak english!
