hiphopanonymous 05-20-08, - 09:55 AM I saw today on the front page of the Tribune that a tourist died in Atlantis. Apparently the tourist choked to death at one of the gourmet restaurants.
Has anyone else heard about this? I meant to listen to the news at 8 on the radio but I missed it.

watsayu 05-20-08, - 11:01 AM Facts details please!.... Airway Obstruction: A blockage in the breathing tubes. The blockage can occur for many different reasons such as tumors, severe allergic reaction, bacterial infections, foreign bodies or trauma. The degree of obstruction will determine how seriously breathing is impaired.

Maybe the person said they were okay and refused help!
Lurker 05-20-08, - 12:39 PM The Tribune is intimating that the staff did not act fast enough or knew what to do.
islandgyal 05-20-08, - 12:42 PM very sad all around.
i've been in two restaurants in the past six months or so where diners started severely choking, and staff just stood around helplessly as another diner experienced in CPR pitched in. you'd think that prelim training would be at least mandatory for restaurant workers, eh? dayum.

Lurker u see how the tribune saying "sources alleged that staff at the restaurant may have been slow to respond".. Don't you think this is a bit careless for them to say if they are not revealing the sources... I mean what if this woman's family sues because of this statement.. I hope they ready to reveal these sources.. If not this is VERY CARELESS JOURNALISM!!!:cutie:

When a person is choking, they can't say anything, they can't breathe, their throat is obstructed. I have seen the Heimlich used twice on people in restaurants when they were choking. Unless someone knows what to do, people do tend to just stand around. CPR and the Heimlich should be taught to EVERYONE. My daughter's friend bit off a chunk of a styrofoam cup one time and was chewing on it, a piece went down her throat and she couldn't breathe. My daughter had been taught the Heimlich in school and she performed it on her friend. The piece of styrofoam popped out of her mouth and all was well. A simple procedure and a life saver.

the tribune is as notable for the quality of its journalism under the m****** regime as the punch is revered for its hard-hitting investigative research department :cutie:.

The Tribune does not reveal their sources; they just make them up...to suit whatever story they are pandering.
