Go Green Bahamas:
http://www.gogreenbahamas.com/

One bag at a time. As you've probably seen around town there are green, reusable, and recyclable bags you can use to carry your grocceries instead of using plastic bags.

Good site. Small steps like this do make a difference.

Yeh, I've been trying to get people to carry their own bags to the grocery store but they always say 'Why take a bag...the foodstore get plenty'. That makes me so upset that people arent taking this seriously. They thinks its embarrassing taking these bags to the store. It makes lots of sense to carry them especially when you're only going for a few items.

got a few bags from the food stores that were covered in cleaning chemicals, had to throw the food out when reached home .. so really .. short of the problem with the food itself being full of chemicals, rotten, having been covered in rat urine or rat droppings .. your own bags is still a good idea.

Yes, between the frequent bug spray they do themselves (see the boxes on the walls) and the people in the store themselves testing the cans, even saw a manager spraying bug spray all around the cashier one day with customers and their food right there, chemicals leaked all over the floor one day in another store and the staff just left it and continued to talk and joke with each other ... wouldnt be surprised .. our food stores are a dangerous place as there are no proper regulations.

I always make sure I wipe down everything I buy before putting them up...
