man there has to be at least one Haitian in LI just not in droves like NP and Abaco... Winter, I think that it is true longislanders do not have one hatian on that island.. NO NOT ONE, - that is amazing...

BUT.. I want to comment the people of long island.. I have the pleassure of working with the Hon. Larry Cartwright, the MP for LI...

Larry is the most decent and honest person I have ever come across, for a politician.. he is not concern about getting votes.. ( I guess cause he is running long island).. he works hard.. day and night.... he is respectful... a man for the people...

Quietly, he is getting more done for his people without bragging about it.. he has the full respect of all of his cabinet collegues... LONG ISLANDERS are getting results...

WHEN EVER, I travell with this Minister, I mean people from Long ISland come up to him and talk to him like he is a memebr of the family.. and he knows them by NAME..

their solution is quite simple. on 1 hand dey are hard workers and employ their own so there is no need for foreign workers. and if haitians do manage to get on long island they wouldnt last long. ive bin told that the store owners dont sell food and other items to them, nobody rents to them and they get no assistance. so wats the point stayin on an island where u cnt find no where 2 stay and nuthin 2 eat? we here in nassau are different. we complain bout the immigrant problem and how it puts a strain on society but yet you find alot of them same complainers hiring the illegals as labourers for farms, construction and land scaping. if you dont want them here then dont support it by hiring them.

But seriously, long Island is a tough island to access by boat if you dont know the waters, Haitian boats do dock in Clarence town though and do regular trade in fruit and veg with local farmers. Dey jus ain stickin around.

LI ppl funny, dey dont want other Bahamians round dem if you ain have no familiar connection to the place. Trust, dey do know who coming on dat plane when it land and where dey and fa how long you going to be there. Dey really protecting dey lil piece of Bahamaland.

What are they trying to say...Mine you, they are not saying that there aren't any illegal immigrants on Long Island; jus that there are NO Haitians livining on that island...Where the Haitians them at? If we have over 30k to 40k Haitians and their descendants living in the Bahamas, how come they don't have their share...What they doing that people on the Berry Island, on New Providence, on Eleuthera not doing.

Long island is both black and white, and they treat the Haitians better than the rest of the Bahamas does, while they are there temporarily.

It's what every island should do, take some interest into themselves.It's what we call community policing,During the last regatta,they had one lady up there selling clothes what she brought from Nassau to make some money,she went to one old woman up there and ask her if she wanna buy her husband one shirt and pants,the old woman tell her she dont buy stolen stuff,they tell her go get her license and pay like everyone else.
