Yeah, I heard this statement again. Is it a silly statement. Is it racist? What are they trying to say...Mine you, they are not saying that there aren't any illegal immigrants on Long Island; jus that there are NO Haitians livining on that island...Where the Haitians them at? If we have over 30k to 40k Haitians and their descendants living in the Bahamas, how come they don't have their share...What they doing that people on the Berry Island, on New Providence, on Eleuthera not doing.
If a Haitian migrates to Long Island what these people are prepared to do so.

They are now all Bahamians.

I admire these people. if illegal immigrants dont have an occupational oppurtunity, a ways and means of trading or a place to stay, they will leave. simple human nature. Long Island seems like a very tight knit community and they look out for one another. i bet unemployment there is zero as well.

Look that an all together true. My Mother's uncle had a Haitian helper for his fields and sheep. Joseph lived in da settlement on my great-uncles property for many, many years. So much so , that I think many ppl in that settlement thought he was Bahamian.
however, when my great-uncle died, trust the neighbours did try to have him picked up and sent to the detention centre cuz they say, "Since his boss dead, he ain had no more reason to be on the island."

On one hand you have to applaud them for preventing their island from being run over by illegal immigrants, by being industrious and committed to their own self perservation. On the other hand though, LI from what has been said sounds like a segragated community whose inhabitants would go to great lenghts to keep outsiders out.

So there are no Haitians there period, but how many Europeans and Americans do they have there. Are they open to them, and closed to Haitians, or do they seek to prevent all outsiders from coming there?

There are no Haitians as the long islanders patrol their coast (armed) and turn the boats back...they have takent he law into their own hands.....
So in other words LI people are vigilantes if need be.

All my LI friends boost of not having hatians but they do have Dominicians and Cubans can`t say what their legal status is though

Winter gal, these people saying that there is NO absouletly none...not one Haitian on Long Island...I want know how is that possible...
I have often heard Long Island say the they round them up and run them off the island...usually I just say yeah, yeah...but this talk keep on coming up...I just want to know how much truth is to it...and are these sheep farmers violent.
