View Full Version : War with Iraq
The war in Iraq, was a war of AGGRESSION NOT self defence.Contrary to United Nations law of armed conflict. The war was illegal from the start.
Remember now in WWII germany did not attack America and in fact wasn't all that crazy about Japan attacking them.
After Pearl habor,American had to look at it's options and decide what was best for their long term survival and so war was decleared on Japan and germany even though Germany had not done them anything.
Now by your context that part of WWII was a war of aggression. Now think how differant the world might now be if they did not make the choice they made.

Japan was part of the Axis as were Germany and Italy.By extension,an attack by any Axis power is an attack by all.But of course, you knew that.Iraq was isolated in the world and was only an "Axis of cheap oil."Your comparison is seriously flawed.:hammer:

This in no way condones Japan........but.
Japan's reasons for joining in on WWII and the axis were much more valid than Germany's. Japan's decisions were soberly based on economics, not hate and fanaticism and realising that without Germany, they had no chance. Some may interpret the "Bushido Code" as fanatic but it's roots are a thousand years old and still practiced among Japanese businessmen.
Japan was being deprived fuel and raw materials to expand it's economy,by the western european nations. The Dutch,English,French and Americans all forced Japan's hand.Japan had a hard time accepting the fact that they should be deprived Asian expansion by Westerners, all the while watching Mao and Chiang undo their all important China interests.:sailing:

What did the Chinese and Koreans do to inflame the Japanese?!

The Japanese always thought they had carte blanche,as they are,in their minds, the "heirs apparent" to their former homeland.Concerning Korea, that is.
After the Communist revolution in Russia,China was in the process of trying to find itself politically.Several dozen very powerful warlords had been regionally running China after the Manchus were thrown out. Japan had for quite some time, been allying forces with some of these warlords,in an effort to rob China of both it's raw materials and it's cheap labor force. The Japanese were heavily invested in China, even to the point of building many factories, rail lines and roads. When some of these warlords aligned wit Chiang and then finally Mao becoming powerful, they invaded China to salvage their interests.

So you are saying Japan was an imperial power just like The Dutch,English,French and Americans?
bigyouth 03-20-07, - 10:41 PM What guts those guys had!
Shot down, rescued, (if lucky) and right up in the air again.
Ball-turret gunners were the bravest.

Exactly! They felt totally taken advantage of and treated second class by the other powers in the region.

Didn't look at it quite like that.:dancer2:

My point really was that America decided to go to war with Germany after being attacked by Japan.
I might be wrong but I don't think that Japan was a part of the Axis before attaching America
.
The American president at the time had wanted to go to war with Germany prior to japans attack but the American public wanted no part of it.
He wanted to go to war with Germany because like Churchill he recognized Hitler’s treat to the world.
Iraq was crucial to the war on terror in that its leader was someone who claimed to have WMD and could have turned it over to terrorist to strike at the west.
Then like now nobody likes war and most people believe that if you just talk it out these things can be avoided. Democracies in particular don’t like war and often get into problems because the population really would like to avoid it. This has been the case from ancient times; the Greeks did not want to go to war with the Persians however the Persians wanted to control Greek territory leaving them no choice
Sometimes you have to fight.
Hitler wanted Germany to rule the world and a part of his strategy was to rid the world of "lesser peoples". Primarily this meant the Jews, but also the gypsies, who were also exterminated although not to the extent of the Jews, but included were also black people and other people of color.
If this guy had won you might very well not be here because your race may have been exterminated or you would have been a second class citizen to serve t

i think most people agree that Saddam was a very bad guy and he needed to go. The problem is with the methods and route Bush took to achieve that. He lied to the american people to get them to authorize a war that did not require an immediate action. And in doing so and in his texas cowboy way he disregarded international concern which means he lost international support for a war that America cannot win on its own.
So Bush has no american or international support for a war that requires both.
Bush mucked it all up. The US alone will not be able to solve the mess in Iraq. We will need every single one of those countries that bush disregarded and alieanated to help us by going back in there and hoping we can stop the downward spiral.
Bush was going on CIA and International intel, so how exactly did HE lie?
Exactly, and what about Clinton and France and the UN etc.
Ah hell I’ll bet if you had asked the “Bush lied” crowd whether Iraq had WMDs before the war 99 % would have said yes.

Of course Bush knew Saddam had WMD's.The US supplied many of them for him to use on Iran. What happened to them who knows?Never the less,it turned out to be a lie!
Clinton, even tho a guy who would be cool to hang wit, lied about everything.
The French...they claimed not to support the US on humanitarian principles, but the real reason was that they supplied Saddam with much of bis weaponry, which had a huge impact on their wavering economy.
The UN....please Koffe is a tief and a liar.
