Your right, I just hope all works out for the former employees at he end of the day.

thing is, NIH has people that work for them whose job is to do just this, looking for companies that arent paying. Bumped into one such person down in LI of all places. That was her job, checking all the businesses out and dealing with them if they didnt pay. There are supposed to be huge fines also.

mind its a shipping business .. not a small thing, they must have been making "some" money?
Whatever cash flow they had went to paying overdue bills. They were circling the drain for a long, long time.

and how would an employee know if the company was not paying National Insurance?

You can always go to NIB and get a print out on your payments, they are glad to do it

Normally whem someone claims NI would tell them there NI payments are not up to date, this is one way an employee is alerted !!!!
I guess no one has claimed in awhile.


Anyone can go into any of the NIB offices and request their info.it only takes two minutes. As a matter of Fact NIB had a campaign some months ago where they encouraged persons to come in and find out how many contributions they had.
