My wife and I (40 yrs old) are moving to Nassau . I'm a white boy and she is from South America. I will be working near Garden Hills. I will have a car.
Any safe neighborhoods , can you recommend within 15 min drive ,close to a beach?
Any other advice would be appreciated...
Thank you
Call Heather Peterson @ the Coldwell Banker 393.8630

Give her your preferences. Sea Beach Est is also a nice area!

Grouper 84 -- I'm from Fort Lauderdale but have been living in Colombia , South America for the past 4 yrs

What are you'll paying for health insurance.? I have a wife and a newborn.

I know I will never fit in as a Bahamian, but what can I do to seem like less of a tourist and more of a somewhat local that lives here, like I plan to ?

My wife has experience working with children and would like to volunteer in a charity . Any ideas?

Thanks everyone for your comments so far

Never say never. First of all you have to learn that conch is your friend.Stew conch, crack conch, conch fritters.gee i almost forgot conch salad. Then you have to learn to dance to bahamian music. We don't do anything resembling Patrick Swayze or the electric slide.if you lived in colombia and you know how to dance merengue, that means you have rhythm so then you would be ready for Junkanoo:)Also there are a few childrens homes such as the Ranfurly Home, Elizabeth children's homes, or the Wilamae Pratt centre that she can volunteer at.

Had a friend do the same thing.

Want some advise, leave the wife at home and have her work.

Have her mommy watch the child and have her send you money.
