View Full Version : Sea Lice - what they are and how to "cure" that itch
Sam Duncombe 06-02-08, - 03:57 PM This is a site that talks about sea lice those nasty bites you get between May and the end of summer. They are the larvae of the little thimble jelly fish
http://www.sealicecancun.com/
After trying a number of different remedies the ones we found to work the best are VINEGAR and MEAT TENDERIZER (otherwise known as ACCENT)
As soon as you feel like you've been hit spray vinegar (white) on the area and rub GENTLY with the meat tenderizer. VINEGAR will work alone also.
They tend to stick to you bathing suit so the sooner you can get out of it the better and be sure to wash it because they sometimes rekindle themselves.
Please feel free to cross post to anywhere.

The meat tenderizer should have bromaline in it. Also if you do get hit and don't have the vinegar etc at the beach, boiling sage (if we haven't landscraped it all is very good for controlling the itch after the fact.
