Once upon a time, BI used to have the poignant type debates...debating them touchy subjects; But now a days we does have them one liners and our topics does be them recycle type ones...BI really changing jed.

But every so often, I for one like stir things up. I guess you can always tell when I am bored aye; or perhaps brainstorming...Nevertheless, today's question is...whatever happened to them nice Haitians...not them aggressive set we does have now adays...but them short set, who use to say yes daddy, no mummy...or even yes bossman...Now it seems as if we have them loud set, who does be loud on the bus, talking their creole...We have them aggressive set who does form gangs by name of Zoe pound etc. Its so bad that now edumacated Bahamians now questioning whether their is a link with crime and Haitians...sensible people blaming it on the mix blood...

But seriously, the Haitians of yesterday never use to be violent...in fact they were very docile in nature...Where they gone man...and which set we now have.

They are the same hatians, but they having children, and their children are renounced by every society.

They are born here but they are treated sub-humanly for their background. They are not given even the right to an identity by any state. They get no opportunity very easily. Even if they don't want to be here, they are not given any legitimate avenue to take to leave.

What does a generation like that do?

The generation we see here today refuse to be overlooked and ojectified as "my hatian". It's really that basic.

I guess they went the same way as the "nice" Bahamians. Whatever happened to them? How did they become knife toting, gun-using, argumentative, short-tempered killing tiefing ............. (you add your own adjectives) etc. ?

Not saying you,re not correct in what you are saying, Newry, but it does go both ways.

Bang! you hit the nail on the head. It goes both ways.
I just hate it when Haitens are called MY Haitens. For the most part they are decent folks.
Never could understand how little regard some of my Black Bahamian brothers and sisters look down on these people.
Chinese and Cubans are treated far better, WHY???
I grew up around Haitians, they helped rear me, we had a farm and most of our help was Haitians, humble proud people.
May we never have to flee our country as they have to, but at the rate we going, een long na!

FG,
You said a mouthful. These persons are not here for the sun sand and sea. They are here because of Bad governance. When I think of the years that the Bahamas was ruled by one political party, that could have easily have happened to us. Right now we have the same bull but different day going on. Haiti has such a rich history that we can all learn from. And of course learn from the mistakes that were made so that we never have to leave our Bahamaland.

I don't know how sensible it is ignoring the illegal immigrant problem all this time and now blaming children of illiegal immigrants for the country's problems really is. Now, they're tired of being maltreated and aren't going anywhere. There are still 'nice' Haitians around, but they are a dying breed.

SpamStopper knows a few Haitians personally and they are all cool. they only nice when they want something, no haitians like bahamian. and if they stop and think they would try to make thing work, I dont think we as bahamian should do more than we doing now,
the mother and father of these young haitian, need let them no this is their home now and try to make it work, and about the paper work, their mother or father, should deal with that, if they didnt when you reach 18 go and deal with it your self.

I wouldnt say are problem are from the immigrants only, but they are a big part of it. we as bahamian have are problem to.

OH how I agree!...Change is inevitable! We Bahamians have fallen short to the same judgement we branded Haitians with...A hateful and violent group of people. If ya ask me I see Haitians as being more neighborly than my fellow Bahamian people. If you go to a Bahamian mechanic when you get ya car back after spendin one trillion dollars you'll have 5 times more problems than b4. Carry it to a Haitian mechanic not only will ya car be running like brand new but you get gettin change back too! One thing I can say about Haitians and its that, they are a loving, supportive, and hard working group of people. So b4 we ask where have the respectful Haitians gone we should ask our fellowmen why are their eyes closed? I haven't heard too much about any Haitians killing each other in The Bahamas....:dgi:
