My wife wants to know what the Bahamians will think of her being Colombian? (Since when most people in the world hear "Colombia" , they think drug dealers and prostitution.

Drug Dealers if they are a man .. yes.
Prostitutes, no they mostly from Cuba here.

Whats Greater Chippingham like? Safe?
Hows the commute from greater Chippingham to Cable Beach?
Thank you

I live there. I like it. It's generally safe, but dont think that you could just stroll around at night. this is a neighbourhood, yes, but be careful.

Its about 10 minutes depending on traffic, just go straight up dunmore ave. to the chippingham road, and then turn left on West Bay Street and keep driving til you see the hotels.

The ones I have met are into booze, drugs, partying, nudity, sweet-hearting and generally a mess up.
I have a completely different experience.

I'd say 10% maybe of the expats I know are like that. I'd also say 10% of Bahamians I know are (if not more when it comes to booze, partying and sweethearting!).

Just my view.

Cansfins --- From the map, Sandy Port is right down from Cable Beach. Nice is it? GenX, who has given me alot of good info. recommended Cable Beach Not that I want to live with only expats, but where do the majority live? I will be working near Garden Hills
Thank you
Everything is relative...
all depends on how much money you will be making...
if you are making a pretty penny...go high end...
Getting to and from garden hills does be some issue with traffic...not sure which direction would be easy on you in regards to that. Plus there are a number of 'expat social clubs/societies." you can find them in the phone book...Depending upon where you are from, perhaps we can give you a head start and get you the number(s). And if you are here in October...then you will be in time for the big expat event...every nation that lives here gathers at the Fort for one big extravaganza...you can meet a lot of people from your "hometown" there.

There are a good number of Colombians here! You see there is great emphasis being placed on the Spanish language in schools; as such the Govt. recruits native speakers from Spanish speaking countries. I don't think anyone really cares that much... The Bahamas is a melting pot in its own rite...
lol at emphasis on the spanish language...

This is so true.

Life is tough for anyone anywhere if they are not working.. I mean there is only so much volunteering, school pick ups and aerobics one can do!! :)

What would a 2/2 apt.(unfurnished --1 yr lease) in a gated community rent for near Cable Beach or Goodman Bay? Can't find much on the web.

Thanks

Not Gated, is $3,500 a month....period

Your idea of unfurnished and Bahamians is like 2 different things

Bahamians = furnished = stove and fridge
No other furniture

Un-furnished = only the cockroaches and bare floors and walls. No appliances

Not all gated, but all in areas I (as an expat) would live happily. Between $1800 and $2,500, all West New Providence.

Good luck - try to ignore the naysayers - life is as good as you make it, wherever you are in the world.
