When you see auto mechanics lots filled with cars with work complete, but cannot be collected because people can't pay $60.00 for a service, it is hard.
People getting lay off left and right. Any day now we will hear Our Lucaya people working 2-3 days per week.
This is going on in NP too. But, GB is not new to this. Its now that we see a major problem is the set up of GBPA and most of actors surrounding it, keeping it the way it is. The PM gave them a chance to get sorted, they have showed that it can't be sorted....so, we have to go get em and save them, from themselves.


You ain gonner sell food out of your house or have one hotdog or quickcell stand on the side of the road to make ends meet. You ain't setting up no fruit stand in the front of your house either. The Port Authority will SHUT YOU DOWN QUICK!
People in GB, wanted this to be this way and lobbied hard for their precious little GBPA. It was a mini-kingdom, and all who served, got the slops from the table and they liked it that way. In fact, got mad when people, started to move in on it back in the day. People fought to protect the GBPA and people, were killed trying to support the the extraction and dissolution, of an obvious mess then to avoid a worse mess, now. Its not Sir Jack or St. G's fault, they simply took advantage of a situation.

Its all of OUR fault....something "Bahamians" need to fix. GB, is just as much mine as it is yours and my family there, has just as much of my interest, as it does as my country!

Even the crab vendors from Andros talked about the stringent rules and fees the Port put on them to sell their crabs for 2-3 days on West Atlantic Drive.

The Port issues needs to be resolved quickly to save G.B. At this point, G.B has to rely on the Govt, to cause the Port to resolve this problem and ensure that whatever decision is made, it is done in the best interest of the City of Freeport and the Grand Bahamians who live there.

out of all the vehicles in my fleet the only one bonded is mine becaues we do businees in the twonshipo areas i had to pay duty on some of the fleet and when we did a little better we payed the duty on them .

Half right. The politricks, or, the lack of true government control, is what the issue is with the GBPA. There is an investment board in the PM's office. Also, they had to be granted the rights, and power to do what they have been doing. The only persons who can grant that is government. That being said, it has gone too far----politricks, for not wanting to kick them in their tail feathers years ago, to now, blaming the people who wanted to see them gone years ago, to now, praising the people who gave them MORE concessions, is what it is....blind and stupid partisanism.

Face it, yinna Freeport FNM's, wanted the GBPA the way it is, because it was a FNM voting bloc and you thought the PLP, was trying to rain on your parade.

As said, the last people, before the PM, who wanted to shove it to the GBPA owners, was SLOP---we saw how that ended. Pineyard incident and all. That being said, the PM would have my full support, on any curtailing and transparency measures, being put in place in the port.
