In today's budget debate the P.M outlined some of the exemptions which consumers can look forward to in this fiscal year.

Cell phones duty reduced to 15%

Paint 45%

Liquid Detergents 10%

Duty Free -Bread, Oatmeal, Spaghetti, Frozen Veggies, Dry unpackaged fruits and nuts

New Vehicles for TAXI, LIVERY, JITNEYS, (OMNIBUSES were accidently omitted will also be included). Duty and tax Free once every five years.

Churches and school buses will also be duty and tax free, once every five years. This will be a permanent fixture in the law. There will be no changes unless some other government seeks to do so.

An increase in fare for TAXI AND JITNEYS drivers will be considered to keep up with the increasing cost of fuel.

Mailboats will receive a rebate on diesel to deal with the increased cost of fuel.

I hope that the owners of the dirty, broke-up, sorry buildings in downtown Nassau finally do somthing with the incentives they have been given. If they don't the government should size their property. On that not look at all tghe decrepit buildings in Nassau, the owners should be fined until they fix them
