View Full Version : Our Nations Future...
BAHMIA 06-04-08, - 05:28 PM When some politician introduced accountability and openess into the Bahamas' political dialogue and tried implementing his plans..he was called a bully. Bahamians for the most part don't like change even if it is for the better. The work involve requires sacrifice of which none are prepared. I believe there is still hope for our nation but the task grows more challenging each day that we delay.
MAJOR PROBLEM right here. :hammer:
Don't the people have the power to correct bad officials every 5 years?
We're just rotating our evils at this point. Same old fogies at the top, stifling the new breed below them.

Can I interpret your statement to mean that a Republic form of governance would be better for our Nations future; wherein all our political officials are elected by the masses?
LotusPhoenix 06-04-08, - 05:41 PM Don't the people have the power to correct bad officials every 5 years?
They do BUT when we don't hold them accountable!!!! Or vote party lines ONLY...
Like when homeboy gone independant, I could have choke on laughter at all the angry constituents who said he was lousy and useless but yet they voted for him?????
And commission of inquiry???? All dem PLPs shoulda been in Jail from the PM to the janitor.
We too like slackness.
LotusPhoenix 06-04-08, - 05:42 PM This is one of those threads where one like Yorick would say, we talk too much about things we cannot change, which consequence to wutless writing.
sighs...

Nope, like the politicans, the 'masses' too need to acknowledge their responsibility as citizens and wise up to these crooks, and kick them out accordingly.

I see the need for a major public debate upon national accountability… a kind of “whose responsibility it is” open discussion for us to bring together our common concerns upon the issues that stagnate us, as a Nation, from true meaningful progress. What say you?.
Lurker 06-04-08, - 06:23 PM You say "tearing out the oak "...
I say "pulling up the weeds" ..

Point taken...new prospectives are always welcome, thanks for your opinion.

That's all Bahamians do is talk. It's the action part, where we get fouled up.

Here is where strong leadership plays it’s part, and without a vision in governance the people will perish.
gian_18778 06-04-08, - 07:01 PM Our Nations Future in the short term looks a bit gloomy, however, I feel that everything will work out well in the long term.
Right now the Bahamas is trapped in a time capsule that's stuck on 1973, and most Bahamians live in 2008. What's it going to take to lift this inertia? A leader who is filled with love, self-less, and completely sacrificial to himself and his political collegues.
IMO, government should only be there to create, and establish an environment where its citizens are uplifted, inspired, and encouraged to chart their own destiny, financially, socially, etc..etc...with little to NO government involvement.
The *MAN* has lost his way, not only in our country, but around the world. More particulary, the *black* man. For the most part, the entire country's future is in jeopary when there is an absense of a positive male in the home.
That said, there's a TON of work that has to be done in this country. When I see *Future* in the title of this thread, my mind immediately shift to the children of the country, and we all know why.
In a nutshell, it will always come back to love, no matter how you cut it. Love for family, each other, and country. That's where we have to start when we talk about our Nations future.

I say dat dis one gern blame dat one, n dat one gern blame da one before, n da one before gern blame da one dat come afta, n dat one gern blame whitey and we won't get anywhere as per usual. :D
