View Full Version : Our Nations Future...
Da Clique 06-04-08, - 03:37 PM May I ask the people of my ancestors a few burning questions upon the progress of our Nation. It matters not if I conceptualized a vision for my people for reasons of my byes[ free thinker ], the reality of it all is simply this ; one man make not a Nation. What is indeed necessary for balance, in the drafting of said plan, is in the integration of useful information by variety of sources. This can easily be accomplished if everyone willingly participate, to visualizing a future concept for our Nation and document the results.
If your still with me, here is the burning question; As a Nation…why don't we have, in action, a permanent development plan for our Nations future? We elect officials who, from term to term, waste their term trying to undo their predecessors term/s. The mighty Oak planted yesterday is today uprooted for a Cedar. Was this in the plan or is it the case of new planning...seriously; what was wrong with the old.
Politics plays an integral part in the development of a Nation, however the philosophical politics of division must not play any part in the planning of a mighty and prosperous Nation. We, the people of this great Nation, must make room for the needs of all people especially our own. The debate upon the injustice of humanity must be fought with the same conviction as that upon the lost of the Dollar.
It is hard to criticize the faults of a Nation when it's people are at peace. The justification for contradiction lay heavily upon the balanced nature of your reasoning. To simply kill a person because of their skin, or to elect a person because of their name is an enormous hindrance to the balance of progress. Our plan for the future of this Nation must be given utmost priority by each individual citizen. Care must be placed upon freedom of information and equal opportunities of all, and upon the continual growth of the Nation.
If we are not planning to become a great Nation in the eyes of the world; we seriously need to start making conscious efforts to ensure that greatness is, indeed, the desire of every citizen. After all; a Nation is only a group of people unified toward the establishment of a specific geographical spot on earth to call their home.

Tafadhali 06-04-08, - 03:47 PM how long it took you to write this?
speaking of our nation's future, Ill tell any young person to learn how to read and write thereby invariably getting as much education that you can in the right area (science & math related fields), delay parenthood until at least 30(or if you get catch those morning after pills do work!) respect your money (make financial intimacy a priority in your life, understand basic economics, and pick up pennies they add up!) and pray.
Da Clique 06-04-08, - 03:56 PM Under 3 minutes to write but the points took a generation to conceive.. I will note your opinion.

Truth above Honor
I am puzzled about your “Truth above Honour” saying at the bottom of your post. Surely, Honour implies truth. One can’t be honourable if one is not truthful. Is there such a thing as an honourable liar?
Da Clique 06-04-08, - 04:12 PM The tenets of truth goes beyond that of honour; to be honorable one might keep a promise of love but in the name of truth one would willingly brake that promise.
I thank you for your keen observation ...your opinion is noted.

yeah there is such a thing...We call them politicians and judges. Of course the honor bestowed upon these honourable 'liars' are merely symbolic in nature.:)

Maybe he mean truth above pride??? We are too proud but in the seven deadly sins way.

But that would still make honor more “powerful” than truth.
Maybe the reason we have no plan for our country and why we are in such a mess is that we do lack honour. We have (some) people in power who are in it for what they can get out of it. They will do what they have to, to increase their own wealth and stature. That is not an honourable course to pursue particularly when one has campaigned on “I am here to help the people!!” Truth would suggest they say “I am here to help one person - me!”
We have yet to find a man, or woman, who is willing to put their own benefit aside and do what is needed. Not just for this generation, but for generations unborn. One of things as you suggest, is a “plan” or a “long view” for the future. We seem happy if we can see out the week. We seldom think about next week.
A plan for the future implies that in the future we will benefit. But we want it now so we take short cuts, we sell our birth right for the “bowl of pottage” we want now! It is said that one of the hallmarks of a thinking human is that he is willing to put off immediate pleasure for a long term benefit. This is something we as a people don’t seem to understand in the numbers needed to make a change.
wide eye 06-04-08, - 04:31 PM Is screwed if we keep on keeping on! If the powers that be stay true to form, forget it and hope you have another passport. I have been away for a while and on coming back to Nassau I have been in a state of shock. The hatred that i have encountered on this island has been amazing. The ignorance is astounding! The apathy is sad. Rude is the order of the day. Dirt is prevalent. I hold little hope.
Da Clique 06-04-08, - 04:33 PM I am honored that interest is given to one of my life code, Truth above Honor, but to be truthful I would rather the sport light upon the subject of the title thread; our nations future… what say you on that issue?.

Lol!
I think it was Lord Nelson that said "Just because a man was born in a stable it does not make him a horse!" We could equally say that just because one is called honourable, it does not make him so!:)

Sometimes, in this place, we need to clear up the small stuff before we move on LOL! :)
Da Clique 06-04-08, - 04:41 PM I also wrote that "Politics plays an integral part in the development of a Nation"... what part, if any, should politics play in the development of our Nation?
