I talked to some atlantis guest who told me that they were told by atlantis not to go over the bridge because it was to dangerous. they were advised to stay in atlantis.
Moreso....I WORKED over there and WATCHED/LISTENED to Guest Services staff tell the guest that...

The guest asked her..."So you don't go over the bridge, and do you live over here (Meaning PI)..

Guest service Rep responded....Yes I do go over the bridge but I wish I didn't have to...

This is what is killing our country. We have descended to the level of the uncouth. In the past Bahamians had less money and more CLASS, the older Bahamians are being replaced by the new "breed" proudly referred to as the Jungalist, who has more money and LESS CLASS.
The Jungalists behave just as the word suggests, like wild animals that live in the Jungle. Sadly, this arrogance that we demonstrate by declaring that we are entitled to behave however we wish, without regard for the implications to our country and fellow Bahamians, is what is destroying our society at its core. Licks2 shows himself to be a part of our country's PROBLEM, not the solution. If we continue along this destructive path and our country's economy is wrecked, we'll wish we addressed this disease called the Jungalist Mentality a lot sooner.
Webster's Dictionary of Terms
Jungalist - of or related to wild animals of the jungle, who inhabit human societies;

Chile don play wid me. . .ya hear? You callin me a part of da problem and you da one tellin us "bend ova a take sol shed"!!!!

WELL MUDDO!!!!!!! Dis Sol or ed aye?????

So ya mean da "disease" called " poor people jungalitis" . . .like dat one you showin nah called "elitis bastiditis" . . .seen!!!!:hammer:

Pray tell ha are we dirfferent when I support da poor's right to fight fer dem rights against da "elite" through dem most grossest of behaviour (jungalism) and you support da merchant class ta us dem most vilest "behaviour" (ELITISM) to curb and violate da rights of da poor!!!

WHA IS DA DIFFERRENCE???????:hammer::hammer::hammer:

my thing is, its all right to be honest. but dont make Nassau seem like its a hell hole, and all of it is bad (even though people do that here on bahamasissues).

we're killing our own product.

[QUOTE=canewry;279974]Listen here muddo...
Good decent Bahamians perhaps are being ban from a public beach.
Even though I haven't been on Cabbage Beach in 20 years...the very idea of knowing the beach is available to me is comforting...
If by your argument, you are suggesting that good decent Bahamians should no longer enjoy certain things in the Bahamas until the rest of them bad Bahamians get their lives in order, then eventually Bahamians will enjoy nothing within this country.[/QUOTE
No not at all Newry. I am not suggesting that Bahamians be denied their birthright. No REAL Bahamian would ever wish for that. What I am saying is that those who subscribe to this Jungalist Mentality do all Bahamians a disservice, by creating an image for all of us as being uncouth, gruff, unsocialized, violent, classless human beings. This is NOT what a Bahamian is, but it is who the Jungalists would have others believe we have become. We have to rid ourselves of this disease, because it is not compatible with the kind of Bahamas we want for our children and future generations.
Only a fool can look at the actions of a few and attribute it to the many. There are jungalist in every society. I was ripped of by an american businessman once. I do not feel that all american businessmen will rip you off!
I see some very uncouth americans. That by no means makes me think that all americans are uncouth! I see some very classy americans. that by no means makes me feel that all americans are classy.
The Americans you are trying to protect come from the most violent place on earth (in terms of crime). Yet by no means do I feel that all americans are violent!
Wake up!!!Wake up!!!Wake up!!!

Yes I blame that guest service rep!
When was the last time you heard of a tourist getting killed in New Providence! How often does that happen.

YES!!!!!!!! 100 x YES!!!!!!!!!!!!....

When I went to Both New York/Atlanta recently I decided to stay in one of the "better" hotels... I asked the concierge where should I go and are there places I shouldn't go....He was honest and even made a joke about going to the "bronx" afterhours and how in ATL certain districts I may not want to stop at a red light... But you know what?....Along with that he directed me to historical sites and landmarks...some of which were not in the upscale area of where the hotel was... If you heard him speak you could clearly recognize the pride he had...

My point here is...The Guest Service Rep... did a disservice to her country by limiting the touristic experience to that "theme park" called Atlantis... not EVER once mentioning the straw market, or places to go for a REAL "native" experience....

I Agree. Crowds are now starting to come out here now.

And, I have no desire to cross that bridge and pay a buck, then most of them wish to come from their side to here.

I believe we confuse Nassau with New Providence. In whole, the Island of New Providence has more different vegetation and birds than all the islands in this one small Paradise.

Wish I had a good camera with a zoom lens, there are 4 exotic species just 300 ft on the sand bar right now, a different kind of female bird in tiny suits.

Everyone feels for the family who lost the young boy - quite tragic.

With respect to the beach access however, this is a problem that is going to get worse rather than better. We cannot - as a people - continue to have our beach rights taken away. The vast majority of Bahamians cannot afford do look at the beach from their balconies - can't afford water front.

Being a little lower down on the economic ladder however - is not just cause for taking away our access to the beach.

Cabbage beach remains the most beautiful beach on this island - it is our right to have access to this incredible natural resource. An unfortunate crime should be cause about to take away this right.

I hope there will be outcry against this localized form of apartheid.
