Lincoln 06-06-08, - 04:40 PM well you got the beach on the eastern road, yamacraw, south beach, adelaide beach, coral harbour beach, clifton beach, sandyport beach, cable beach manor, goodman's bay, saunder's beach, long wharf and montagu beach. thats 13 swimming areas ive named. where is the shortage?
This is not about shortage. This is about civil rights!
There was not a restaurant shortage but that didn't stop Martin Luther King and other activists from fighting to ensure that we could eat in any restaurant we chose to! there was not a bathroom shortage but they faught to get rid of white and coloured bathrooms there was not a school shortage per se but they faught to attend the school of their choosing.
I think you get the point!
adidasboi987 06-06-08, - 04:43 PM ok then what about all the hooligans that end up in rock throwing fights and break up ones property when you do allow them to cross the property (WHICH U PAID FOR AND WORKED YEARS TO BUY).
ALLOW???!!!!!!???....anyway...
we aint talking about allowing people to walk through your living room to get to the beach....we're talking about the preservation of PUBLIC access to the beach...

Only a fool can look at the actions of a few and attribute it to the many. There are jungalist in every society. I was ripped of by an american businessman once. I do not feel that all american businessmen will rip you off!
I see some very uncouth americans. That by no means makes me think that all americans are uncouth! I see some very classy americans. that by no means makes me feel that all americans are classy.
The Americans you are trying to protect come from the most violent place on earth (in terms of crime). Yet by no means do I feel that all americans are violent!
Wake up!!!Wake up!!!Wake up!!!
Licks2 and Lincoln please gimme a break. I don't care about the merchant class or the American tourists nearly as much as I care about the Bahamaian people. I am not suggesting that the deeds or behaviour of a few should be misconstrued as representative of the entire population of Bahamians. However, it doesn't take a genius to see that our country is being destroyed by this slavish way of thinking and that is the Jungalist Mentality. I am 100% Pro-Bahamian, and would never put the interests of Sol Kerzner or any other foreign developer before those of my own people. I refuse to condone the classless behaviour that is killing our innocent teenagers, beating and raping our women, polluting our once pristine environment, and putting the focus of our problems on one man, Sol Kerzner, instead of point blank at ourselves. Why, cuz when I have a problem, Sol ain't dere to fix it fa ma, I gatte fix it fa ma sef. We must free ourselves from mental slavery, and no longer blame da false "massa" for our problems. I don't gat no "massa", I ain't no damn slave.
Shon242 06-06-08, - 04:43 PM There was a news article last night. It seemed as of they were goingto be at the foot of the bridge determining who would be able to go over the bridge. For instance they said large groups of young men on the back of trucks would not b allowed. Yes it is discrimination but...what do u want them to do? Loose business when they are in the business to have a black bottom line!
How about we dont come over the bridge next week period.
Will they loose business or will it be better of without us??

I am NOT suggesting that the beach be blocked. I oppose denying any beach access to Bahamians in this country. It reminds me of a white Bahamian who called into the Issues of The Day show the Monday after the Khodee Davis killing, who said that we are the only country in the Caribbean that allows our locals to mingle on the same beaches with the tourists. She said that it had to stop, and you could sense how irate and emotional she was that Black Bahamians are allowed to mingle with the mostly white tourists. Hell no, I don't support that kind of racist mentality. Where have I even suggested that in any one of my posts? What I am saying is that having freedom doesn't give us the right to abuse our freedoms. We as Bahamians are not animals, and we shouldn't have to act like animals to prove that we are free. That is exactly what white racists want for us to do, to justify enslaving us like ANIMALS on board the slave ships and on their plantations; that's why they chased us with their dogs and lynched us in trees. We are not subhuman, we are not animals, and we are not Jungalists. That is what I am saying. Give us our beaches, but we must leave ourselves with our dignity. I LOVE Bahamians, plain and simple.

androsann 06-06-08, - 05:17 PM maybe she said she was white????
I guess so.
Tafadhali 06-06-08, - 05:22 PM city of miami beach, residents and cops may not like urban beach goers the crowd and the traffic congestion of the weekend (hell me either cus its too many kids!) but they know which side their bread is buttered on...they know that infringing upon the rights of americans is a no go...they know they would have a class action law suit on their *** if they even attempt to try **** like what has transpired...
sol kerzner doesnt respect Bahamian people or our money in our own fcking country...after all we have done for me...without us...atlantis woulda been a pipe dream...its high time we teach this south afrikan a mofo lesson like no other...
l_bones 06-06-08, - 05:41 PM if it was my property and there were fights, killings, litter, and all the foolishness going on, i'd restrict access too. PRIVATE PROPERTY just because it has been public for years because the OWNER let it be, doesn't mean it is now public property. more power to him/her. if it's the one I think we're talking about it isn't Kerzners property.
now restricting PUBLIC property like the beach up to the high tide line, the public waters being sectioned off, etc, that is complete crap.
