BAHAIMIANS?!!! Have you ever seen how some those tourist (spring breakers and others) carry on over there. I worked PI for over a year as a police officer and I can assure you that we had more problems from foreigners than from Bahamians.
We need to stop being prejudiced. The vast majority of Bahamians just want to go over there in peace and enjoy their beach. Trust me they lucky I wasn't there. I would have run all those security and police and enjoyed our beach that we inherited!
I'll bet you those security would have let a white tourist family walk past them and go on the beach. They would have probably put on a big negro smile for them and helped them with their bags.
How many murders and disturbances happen on Miami beach every year. Do you think they would then close their beach to Americans!!!
This Bull sh!t needs to stop!!! And it will!!! Ain Long!!!

You tell um Lincoln.

Why doesnt the government just initiate a small charge. i know in NYC all the beaches on Long Island you have to pay to go on. Not much, but there are also rules, people to enforce them as well as locker rooms and shower facilities. They has them on Montague, but they were never properly maintained.

We need to make Sol build something like dat out there. Dat is OUR beach.

I remember there was a paid beach on PI was I young. On public holidays my Dad would take us there. It was a great day. There has to be a middle road. We shouldnt be ban from our beaches, but we need to respect our environment and others while we having fun.

i dont blame kerzner for it at all. when these drunken fellas and jungalists go to cabbage beach they harass the guests, smoke, drink, cuss, bring weapons and fight. this is not the first time that these incidences happen over PI. kerzner's first priority is to his guest and his investment and with that incident happen last time do you want that same thing happen again? he is investing all this money and these stupid idiots are willing to destroy his image and the country with it. besides there are numerous beaches in nassau. there is no beach shortage.
I AGREE WITH THIS FULLY..

If I were the owner, I'd be minded to keep it closed forever or until I am sure people are civilised enough to behave themselves..

Hopefully we all would take a similar stance against antisocial behaviour and thereby wipe out this spirit of murder from our midst!

in the words of the Saxons DEY CAUSE DIS.How would we feel if we had a property and every holiday groups of loud, rowdy.disrespectul persons came and left mounds of garbage behind. Not to mention the fights and most recently a murder.should the owner go on as business as usual. hell no. instead of getting down on the owner we need to think about how bad our people carry on at these beaches.especially young people.when and how did we become so lawless.yes it is our right to have acess to public beaches, but come one people with freedom there should also be a level of respect. what happen to our 'Brought- up-see'
I worked those beaches as a cop and I saw Bahamians everyday on the beaches behaving themselves very very very rarely would there be a disturbance on PI and even then, 9 times out of 10 it would be a tourist causing the disturbance.
Yawl need to get rid of that south africa mentality!

I remember in the mid 80's a beach that you had to pay to go on towards the western end of PI. I think it was called Paradise Beach. After you paid you got a towel and a lounge chair for the day.

It was on the other side, by the old Holiday inn. You had to pay like $2 and you got a locker and they had shower facilities. It was pass chalks airline. I think it was meant for the tourist on that side of the island, but Bahamians could go as well. I have so many great memories of spending the day there.

All beaches in are public. The access may be private, but our beaches cant be sold. i remember they would do this on Cabbage beach form time to time and usually open again for the following holiday, once "the crowd" found another alternative.

But how many years ago was that?

The mentality of our young ppl have changed. I have gone to beach parties as a teenager on Cabbage Bch and persons behaved themselves but that ws 20 years ago at least!

So if a tourist commits a murder on PI will you then say Ban all tourist from the PI beaches?
Yawl need to wake up!
Kezner is benefiting more from us than we are from him!

sir i would rather a tourist kill another tourist on PI than a bahamian kill a tourist. it wont reflect on us. believe me kerzner dont need no bahamas. he can open up in dubai and sell atlantis right now.

That's the same one I remember Sap, it used to be very pleasant out there. When I lived by Gov't House I would walk downtown, catch the ferry over and then walk to that beach, with a small cooler of drinks and sandwiches and a good book, it made for a really nice day out. :)

beaches are opened to the public but you have to realize also that kerzner should have the right to protect his investment. these stupid fellas aint going to cabbage beach to have fun, they are going to cause trouble. they are harrassing the visiting women and cursing them out when they are rejected. they are cursing loudly, drinking, smoking, littering and fighting amongst themselves in front of guests. do you think as a tourist that flew 1000 miles to a resort to relax on the resort's beach want to see this type of activities going on amongst the locals? they dont blame the country you know, they blame the resort. hotels owners and investors want to protect their image and if it means to close the beach to bahamians then so be it.

Kerzner have his rights to protect his investment, so do the Bahamian public have the right to enjoy that beach. Closing the beach is not the right solution. There is more than 1 solution to that problem.
