That's the same one I remember Sap, it used to be very pleasant out there. When I lived by Gov't House I would walk downtown, catch the ferry over and then walk to that beach, with a small cooler of drinks and sandwiches and a good book, it made for a really nice day out. :)

It has been many, many years since I was at Cabbage Beach, isn't the public entrance just past what is now the RIU? If so, and please forgive my naivety here, how does Kerzner get to own the access road? I was always led to believe that was RIU property.

Lincoln, It een a south african mentality, to me it is the reality of what happens on holidays.It is our right to have acess to public beaches,but the reality is Sol Kerner has a business to run.If people stop coming to atlantis and by extention because they are afraid for their security then we as bahamians will be in serious problems.to me we need to look at why this was done and find a solution to the problem not blame kerner. We have been fortunate so far that tourists still find the bahamas as their destination of choice. and by the way as it relates to the spring breakers, they are the perfect example of why many hotels refuse their business.

Public Holiday. Cabbage Beach Closed to Bahamians. Chain across the public access. Pylons preventing people from parking. At the beach access there is a new sign saying that the owner of the beach access has the right to restrict access. There is an umbrella for the 3 security guards, the two police cars, the three policemen and a guy in a suit with a radio.
The sign says that people use the access at the pleasure of the owner, and the pleasure of the owner is enforced by the security guards.
This is how Bahamians gave away their patrimony.

I did not know the access to the beach had an owner...In fact, the access is the beach itself...Now we know for a fact that Cabbage beach is a public domain, therefore the said access which is about 40 feet long is there for public too....Nevertheless, let's say the "access" is private...The Bahamian people have been using that access for years...scores of years...Therefore the Bahamian people has an expressed easement. They have permission by owner to use the access. Surely it is not legal to block the entrance without expressed notice....

IN regards to parking...that's a seperate issue...There have been no parking signs all over PI, especially by the beach for years; unfortunately the police do not enforce the laws; especially on holidays to the benefit to their fellow Bahamians. Now if the police have decided to enforce the law due to an anonymous phone call by certain powers, surely it is safe to say that our Police, in particular the Police on paradise Island can be bought...But then again, if the fire station was bought and purchase by Kerzner, if the police statin was bought and purchase/maintained by Kerzner, 'bought' has become relative in meaning.
